After being taxed into oblivion, treated like a criminal and put outside in the cold like a dog in a doghouse, I'm not really particular of what others think.
I do use judgment, but don't get stomped on anymore, especially when I know I'm doing no harm. I'm friendly about it, and willing to go overboard to explain, but that's where it ceases. If they don't buy it, I can't convince em. 99% of the time in restaurants or public settings, it has been positive, but you will get that 1% who just will be disgusted no matter what.....Ok...Deal with it then!

I saw on a Chi-town section here, those discussing where it is safe/acceptable to vape in the general area. I chimed in and politely asked ""Why? Is someone or some restaurant refusing you ?"". It's legal here. Get bold or the info won't get out.

It think it actually depends on where you are (more specifically, how the regulations of where you are are worded). Vaping is still considered use of a tobacco product. Therefore if all tobacco product use is restricted (IE most municipal buildings, schools, etc) Then YES vapping there is illegal. However, and i happen to love this little loophole, if "smoking" or "cigarettes" is prohibited then you are good to go. *ducks under the nearest table and braces for the coming string of comments*

It really depends on where you live, what country, and then if you live in the U.S., what state. Vaping is not illegal here anywhere - you could do it in a government office, legally, but you'd likely get kicked out or told to stop. One can legally vape in places where smoking is not allowed... but you need to be on the good side of the property owner if you're going to vape someplace where smoking is not allowed. I wouldn't vape in a grocery store, except maybe discreetly. Most bar owners are cool with it. Since most smokers don't obey the law and lean against buildings smoking when they are supposed to be some distance away, I wouldn't worry too much about vaping anywhere outside, even if near a public building. And of course here in Montana, there are no restrictions on sales. You can buy, sell ship or have shipped to or from any point on the planet without a single worry. You can sit on the bench outside the police station with a case full of vaping paraphernalia, and fill your CE2s with a syringe, and bottles full of liquid lined up beside you, and puff away - though you'd better be prepared to explain ecigs to a cop and maybe have to give up a sample of your liquid for testing LOL.

The FDA considers vaping a tobacco product. Under Montana state law, and much to the disappointment of the lawmakers and anti-tobacco orgs, vaping is NOT considered a tobacco product, and therefore (until they change the law), one can vape even where smoking is banned. So it does really depend on where you are.

Legally I could vape in a public library, or a four star restaurant, or the lobby of the police station, or the produce section of a grocery store. Not sure I would get away with it, but unlike smoking a cigarette, I wouldn't be breaking the law. Best just to vape where it is legal to smoke, with one exception, bars/casinos (most bars in MT) where the owner is cool with people vaping on his/her property, and where most patrons, even non-smokers, accept vaping.

I must say, regardless of legalities, one should respect the wishes of the business/property owner. Of course if you stealth vape, they'll never know you're doing it anyway. If the owner is ok with vapers, but it is another patron that complains, then yes, I agree, they should just "deal with it".

In these economic times, there are certain businesses that have suffered from Non-Smoking laws. My business is one of those. I run a bowling alley in Southern SC. In the particular county my business resides in, the law states that you can not smoke within 15 feet of a covered structure that resides on a business property effected by the ban. What this means is I can't even put up a smoking area outside of my building that has any type of roof to protect my patrons from the elements, they would have to walk 15 ft away from that to light up. I hate that the government is telling me what is or isn't good for my business, and banning smoking is absolutely not good, especially when my bowlers can travel 15 minutes across the state line and bowl in a bowling alley that is able to allow smoking in their lounge, so you don't have to walk outside in the weather to smoke. Patrons have the right to patronize a business of their choice, and if they want a non-smoking environment, there were plenty of places around town that had already gone non-smoking prior to the ban. Since the ban went into effect my bowling alley has seen a 30% drop in league bowlers, and 15% drop in public open bowling, where my competition across the state line has seen a 20% increase in their league bowlers, and a 20% increase in there public open bowling, and neither them or I are really doing anything different than we were 5 years ago.

Now I take into the fact that some of my decrease may be from the bad economy, but not too much. Unemployment is actually less now than it was 5 years ago. Vaping is absolutely allowed in my business, hell I do it. When I first seen it in my doors a couple years ago, I did ask the person to go outside. This was how I learned about vaping, and why I have since switched over. About a year ago, I started allowing it on the main floor, and I got a handful or so league bowlers that openly vape, and once I've explained to other customers what it is, there usually isn't an issue.

I live in Vegas, and during Vapefest I have encountered a few of these "Vape where I damn well please" folks making quite a ruckus in public. Some drunk, one stone sober. I have seen the ugly side of this train of thinking, and it's not pretty.

By all means, vape where you want, but if the owner of the place tells you to stow it, then stow it for god sakes. It really doesn't help the community to cause a scene, shouting "IT'S ONLY WATER VAPOR!" While you're getting hauled out by Vegas PD.

All up in your grill..
It's illegal in NJ and Utah.

Everywhere else to my knowledge it is not regulated and up the owner of the individual establishment. There may be a few odd townships but nothing statewide. I think they are tring to do it in Boston also but not all of Mass.

These people will never leave us alone. They will never accept the loss of control and their perception of losing the "moral high ground" Things will get much much worse before they ever get any better.

Expect big brother to get bolder soon.
