So far I haven't seen anyone else vaping in public except for friends and family that have started vaping recently in light of our new little discovery :).

I'm kind of shy about my vaping, usually just go outside to vape when I'm in public, but not neccesarily in the smoking section, lol! I had my first venture with them in a restaurant/bar last Monday night. I live in Oregon, and many people here have been misinformed by the media that "Oregon has banned e-cigarettes".

I went to a place called Chicago Pizza, sat in the pub area and asked the waitress if it was ok for me to use my personal vaporizer. She asked what it was and I told her I used it to quit smoking and that it is also called an electronic cigarette. I took a draw and blew out the vapor and said "see, no smoke...can you smell anything?" She moved closer and I vaped again, she was impressed and said she thought it should be fine but would need to ask the bartender. The bartender said it was fine unless people started to complain...no complaints, I was so happy to find a place that I could vape indoors, yay!

Tonight I went back armed just in case there were complainers...Someone had been kind enough to post a tri-fold flyer from the CASAA website here in our forum, so I printed some up and put them in my purse. Here is the link, pretty easy to print and fold:

There was a different waitress working tonight, so I asked her the same question that I had asked the previous waitress and handed her one of the flyers. She said it was fine and that they would keep the flyer behind the bar just in case they ever run into an issue with it.
About a half an hour later the waitress comes back and says she's had to explain to numerous customers what I was doing...but it was no big deal :). I handed her a couple of other flyers to hand out to the curious onlookers. They immediately looked over at me and gave me the thumbs up! It was quite and exciting experience :).

I highly recommend having some of these flyers on hand, they come in handy without you having to do all the explaining.

I'm flying from NJ to CA next month on business and I'm really excited to try out being able to vape on the plane, but at the same time don't want to end up with a full body cavity search. Anyone vape on an airplane before? Do ecigs set off the smoke alarm in the airplane bathrooms?

A few weeks ago I flew into Chicago and my vape equipment went through screening just fine in my carry-on although I had my juice in my checked bag. I stealthed it in the bathroom and on the plane. I would be careful doing it openly because a lot of airlines and airports prohibit vaping just like smoking so keep an eye on the signs and airline literature.

My husband and I both use them at our college. I see heads turn constantly when we walk through the halls vaping. I have actually seen maybe two or three people tops walking around with one. Today I actually ran into a guy vaping on an eGo and of course I was jealous. The eGo is deff next on my list. We have an area called smokers corner and when my husband and I vape our ecigs it is the talk of the corner. It seems everyone is so interested in them but they are not fully sure on how they work. I would love to spread the word about these amazing little things. My psychology teacher even asked if she could try mine today and of course I agreed and she was immediately in love. lol

Milwaukie, so not very far from you...what town do you live in? It's always nice to meet another Oregonian here :).

:2cool: add one more Oregonian. I have never seen anyone here in Bend vaping other than a coworker I converted. I did however make a trip up to Priest Lake, ID this summer and saw a guy sitting on the lawn of one of the resorts vaping. I don't think I would have ever noticed if I wasn't a fellow vaper. :p

I vape out and about all the time, but good luck running into me unless you live in Bumblef.. uh, rural west TX. But I've vaped openly on two college campuses during visits to my son and football games (stealth vaped during those two jam-packed games too - I'm sure people were like WTH is up with the butterscotch smell??), and rec'd nothing but puzzled looks when openly vaping. One woman had her jaw hanging open so wide I was like "it's an e-cigarette" and she said "I just wanted a hit of whatever it was!" so.. uh, yeah, be aware that some people might jump to the conclusion you're using drugs of some sort.

If it's possible to be MORE rural, we're it. Go to Abilene, go NW like you're going to go to Lubbock, then stop. (Why, nobody would know!)

When I started I was a little weirded out about vaping in public, especially indoors. I got comfortable doing it because my co-workers got used to me vaping in the office. After a week or so I didn't buy analogs anymore and I no longer cared where/when I vaped. Since I started the ecig has been exploding all over the market and now I tend to get questions about where to buy them.

I live in a small town not far from the home of Johnson Creek and I haven't seen any other vapors. I ride the bus and vape. I do see some of the bus drivers looking back at me with the mirror but none have said any thing yet. I think most people are used to the smell of a cigarette when it is light and if they don't smell that smell they know you aren't smoking. Also we all know the smell of weed smoke to. I guess they sniff for both of those smells and if they don't smell them than they realize you can't be smoking.
