I'm trying vaping to quit smoking.

I'm vaping flavorless 9mg/ml vg/pg (70:30). Flavorless because I'm just trying to get nicotine fix. Not a big fan of flavors - tobacco or any other. I'm using eLeaf iCare (direct lung hit, as I couldn't get cigarette like MTL draw even with all air-flow closed). It's awesome. No problem with the quantity or quality of vapour produced. Hand to mouth feel and all that is OK. Throat Hit etc is not a problem.

So my problem is, vaping just doesn't give me any kick - or even mild buzz. I still crave for Cigs. I've tried vaping 10-15 minutes continuously, but I don't feel the kick/buzz.

I smoked 15-20 high nicotine small filter cigs regularly and I still smoke 10, so vaping has cut down them a little bit. But if I get even a little bit of kick-buzz, I can leave cigarettes for good.

I think nic level in blood would be lowest in the morning, and hence most craving for nic. I don't get any buzz from vaping even in the morning. I usually get a decent kick from first cigarette of the day.

I'm not getting the buzz or I'm not feeling it?
What to do?

Sorry but mtl will never give you a buzz feeling. That is because of the delivery of the nicotine. MTL vapers get most of the nic in the mouth, nose and throat area and very little is left for the lungs.

The buzz from cigarettes is from the direct contact from the nic to the lungs resulting in less oxygen to the brain. That is where the light headed buzz comes from.

You will probably need a DTL device with nic around 3-6mg. Any higher nic than that will make you feel like the back of your head is coming off.

Hope this helps. Be sure to drink plenty of liquid as vaping will dry you out quick, and dehydration is no joke.

Thanks for response S&S.

But I'm not doing MTL.
I'm taking direct lung hits with air-flow full open. 6-7 second drags. Plenty of vapor.
This process is fine, but I'm not getting buzz.

Yes, that buzz I'm talking about.
I'm using 9mg/ml nic and taking direct lung hit but my head isn't feeling light.
So what do I do?
Is it OK if instead of exhaling, I let the vapor stay in lungs for more absorption of nic?

You can. It is called stealth vaping. Don't be surprised if when you do exhale there is little to no vapor.

You can try a higher nic level, even tho I don't normally recommend that, but in your case it may work. You may just have to accept that vaping is not smoking. We all here at ecf have learned that vaping is not smoking and its a completely different animal all together. And with vaping you reach your nic level in your body slowly, and then continue to vape to maintain that level to stave off cravings for cigarettes.

I liken the differences between smoking and vaping vs getting drunk. You can get drunk on both whiskey and beer. With smoking(whiskey) you can get drunk pretty quickly and can feel the effects sooner. Beer will also get you drunk, but you have to consume more and it takes longer. It is all in the delivery of the nicotine..

Other than upping the nic level you can try a more powerful mod and tank, but I still am unsure if you will ever get that same buzz as you did from smoking. Many of us searched for it when we all first started but have yet to find it. Overdosing on nic is no fun either.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

:)

I would recommend trying a higher nic level first & if you're still not getting the nic fix that you're after maybe try a more powerful device, When I first quit a couple years ago I started with a cigalike device then found it wasn't enough after a week or so then upgraded to slightly better device then upgraded again after a little while & so on, You just gotta try a find what suits you best but these day's its a lot easier & cheaper then it was a few years ago

Hi and welcome,
It sounds like 9mg/ml is a bit low for you.
I would suggest increasing the nicotine strength of your liquids.
Have you tried using 12mg/ml or 15mg/ml?

Good luck quitting. You CAN do it.

Cheers

You get a lot of chemicals from cigarettes in addition to nicotine. Tobacco companies add these to make it more addicting. Plus, you are inhaling smoke that contains carbon monoxide. That gives you a light headed feeling.

Try upping your nicotine to 12 or higher. If that doesn't help, you may need better equipment.

There is a certain amount of withdrawal from smoking even with vaping for most people. I started with 18 and, briefly, went up to 24 because of cravings.

up your nic level...

and, vaping is not like smoking, its different... its missing alot of chemicals found in tobacco that help give one that buzzy tingle.
You may be a prime canadate for dual usage for a couple/few months... some people can make the transition in one day and it takes others months...

Also agree that you might want to up your nic. If DL and low nic is not doing it, maybe try a tank that can do mtl and restrictive DL and up the nic to 18mg. At first use it in mtl and see if it helps. Personally I mtl at 24mg and find it the closest to a cig, I tried dl at lower nic and to me, it felt like a watered down vape

There is truth to what Sugar & Spice said about never getting the same buzz feeling from vaping but I'm left wondering what buzz feeling you are actually referring to. I only ever got buzzed on cigs when I'd been off them for a while such as a long flight or a failed attempt at quitting. I never otherwise got a buzz unless I chain smoked them and that was never a pleasant buzz.

I'd agree with those that suggest a higher nic level. I was vaping at 6 mg and still smoking (less like you) when I used 18 mg to quit. I wouldn't describe the effect of the higher nic as giving me a buzz but it did remove the desire for having a cig though. Every time I felt like having a cig I told myself no problem but first I vape and after vaping I no longer actually wanted the cig. Within weeks of quitting though I soon found 18 mg was too high and detracting from my enjoyment of vaping.

A vape will not hit like a smoke.
Dual users, while comparing will feel a vape is lacking. It is, a lot of folks use WTA juices.

I feel WTAs are extreme, you should use as a last resort.

I have vaped at 15 to 18 mgs for years, anything less leaves me cold. At builds from .5 to 1.5 ohms.

When you quit smokes, you will get a buzz from vaping.
Some people just have a higher tolerance for nicotine.
There Is a way to get Exactly what you want from vaping.

It just may be off the Beaten Path..

You might want to try some liquid with Whole Tobacco Alkaloids(WTA).

If you search the forum for "WTA" or "Whole Tobacco Alkaloids" you'll find a ton of information.

No matter what method is used to quit smoking (including vaping) some folks find it takes a great deal of willpower & real desire to quit.

The buzz you got from cigarettes was not from the nicotine, it was from a combination of all the additives in the tobacco which created that reaction in your body.

Concensus seems that I should up my nic level.

I'll try that but it'll take time to procure nic. The current one I have is the highest mg epuffs.in was selling. I'm in India and online orders of nicotine in pg/vg base get stuck in customs. Flavored E-juices sometimes pass sometimes sent back by customs. I'm trying to find more sources.

Good point about WTAs but I think I should stick to nic. Tobacco is what I'm running away from after all. Vaping has reduced my cravings during the day and I smoke less, but I think I can vape more and more with each passing day so that I can reduce cigarettes to 3-5 a day until I start feeling vaping buzz. I guess I'm nicotine tolerant. Even with cigs I smoke the ones with highest nic and smallest filter. I'm nic junkie. :(

Good comparison with Whiskey-Beer. I knew vaping won't be exactly like smoking, but this comparison highlights the difference. I was expecting too much from 9mg/ml it would seem. :)

I think I'll have to go through withdrawal with help of vaping. Also I see quitting does require a great-deal of will power, but I'll keep on trying.

Thanks good fellas for your kind words and advices.
