I gained a little weight during the first few weeks after switching from cigarettes to vaping. Although vaping replaced the nicotine from smoking there was still a short withdrawal period where I found some additional munching helped alleviate the stress. I lost the weight after a couple of months.

I do not recommend that non-smokers take up vaping nicotine in order to lose weight. Vaping offers a big risk reduction when used as an alternative to smoking but there are healthier ways to lose weight, like diet adjustment and additional exercise. Other than that, weight reduction schemes are best evaluated with the help of medical advice.

Very well said. I have a little perspective on weight loss - I lost 130 pounds almost 4 years ago and have kept it off since. Physically speaking, there is only one thing responsible for the sustained weight loss and that is changing what I eat and how I eat. But changing the eating is only a small part of the battle - the big thing for me was changing my mind.

I've helped a lot of people since then with their problems around food. I always recommend against exercise, pills, temporary diets, or other chemicals and gimmicks as a component of weight loss. (Exercise is great for the sake of exercise but beginning exercise as a weight loss mechanism is almost always a really bad idea.)

I do not know how it works for other folks, but i have noticed, that nicotine craving is very similar to hunger, sometimes if i do not smoke, i feel hunger even after i had a good meal untill i have my smoke. So this possibly can be the reason why people think there is some connection between these two. My body does not understand when it's hungry and when its just a nicotine shortage, it's the same sensation for me. Still, smoking does not benefit the weight loss at all.

I started vaping to get off cigs, but I have lost about 7 or 8 lbs since I started. Not intentional, I am just vaping my desserts instead of eating them, and drinking a ton more water.

Same here. I am amazed that I quit smoking, the weight loss is a bonus. Love my dessert vapes.

Retract: Sorry, re-read and think you are advising that other lifestyle changes need to happen in addition to exercise. Got it!

If I can vape good it reduces my anxiety, in turn, eating. I don't vape extremely icky sweet juices, but it does reduce my food cravings.

Here most people wanting to reduce weight turn to a local beverage called mate. Sucking at that metal straw DOES reduce craving for food and cigarettes...

I guess I'm the only one who fits the criteria to your question. I quit smoking back in 2010 with swedish snus and nasal snuff. I picked up vaping in January for the fun of it. I still use snus and snuff as well. I'm definitely a nic junky lol.

Oh regarding weight loss my crohns disease took care of that.

What I am saying is that, in my experience, and the experience of helping others with food/weight problems, that it is more important to get the eating problem behind you first, where you are contentedly eating a healthy balanced nutrition plan that will last you the rest of your life, and release most if not all excess weight before beginning an exercise program. I could write a few pages on the reasons I take this position and why I think its true, but I don't think this is the proper place for it.

I'm also not talking about the casual dieter who has five pounds to lose. I don't care what they do to lose weight. I'm talking about people who have tried and tried and yet are unable to control their eating and weight.

I'm also not talking about going for walks and things like that, I'm talking about things like scheduling 40 minutes a day on the treadmill to "burn calories" or "burn that fat off."

I realize this flies in the face of what society and even medicine pumps into our minds, but I think my reasons are good. I'd be happy to discuss it via PM with anyone who wants me to expand on it.

I'll lose weight when i chain vape the crapp out of a tank full of juice', but if i dont chain vape all day, i'll be hungry.
Catch 22' really, chain vaping gives me headaches but i lose weight and am not hungry, have to make myself eat. but man' the headaches aren't pretty'. pretty much a coin toss, i just do one or the other unconsciously'.
