I was just thinking on how far vaping has come for me and many of us. My first ecig was a 3 part little mini, batt, atty and cartridge, that lasted about 5 puffs, then had to recharge LOL! Then came the all new cartomizer, coil and fill all in one! We were so thrilled, the latest and greatest. Then carto tanks made from syringes. Mods made from anything and everything. Then clearos, the early ones sucked and leaked but now they are great. Then rebuilds, coils, etc etc.
Wow what a ride! Now we face regulations that could halt all this technology and inventiveness, so sad! The vape community has been one of sharing knowledge that is little seen these days, everyone helped everyone. So glad to be part of this great group of vapers, we will survive :)

I, for one, am thankful we all got to the stage in vape history that we could become self sufficient. Imagine if all the rta's and replaceable battery mods hadn't been invented yet. If this industry would have been killed off in it's infancy, they may have had a chance to squash it. I think the genie is too far out of the bottle now. At least for the advanced vapers out there. Noobs, well the outlook isn't so good for them.

I agree with all of the above. This is a great community, and why I continue to Pay It Forward to this day.

I'm starting my 5th year of vaping. I began with the cigalikes, and quickly advanced up to a mechanical mod and a cartotank. I was pretty content with those for nearly three years (including using a Provari). About two years ago I began rebuilding coils and experimenting with DIY eliquids, and I'm so glad that I did, forseeing the current FDA Regulations.

I'm confident that I can continue vaping with a mech and RDA despite whatever the FDA throws at us. I've dropped my nic down to 3mg and could go no-nicotine if I had to. There's NO WAY that I will go back to smoking or using a Big Tobacco cigalike (Blu or Vuse).

I feel sorry for those who might in the future want to vape, but the only options will be for a cigalike made by Big Tobacco. :(

I feel sorry for new folks too, what a time to get into vaping. Maybe we old timers can help them survive. I also want to thank everyone that helped me thru the years and recently learning new things. I never ever thought I wanted to know how to rebuild, now I am so thankful we have the technology! Whew what a relief. DIY liquids is pretty easy, so been doing that for years, altho I got lazy and have been buying pre-made for a couple years now. So back to DIY :)

404D batt and plastic cartos made up my first setup.

Messes and misfires were common and expected.

Today the only thing I take out of the house me is my vape and perhaps a 10ml bottle of juice if I'm planning to be out for most of the day.

I no longer have to carry around 3 or 4 extra ego batts and hope I remembered to charge all of them.

Refilling my tank required that I pull over and break out my "kit" and then deal with all the spilled/leaked juice.

We got it good these days. Not surprised by how fast the technology advanced. If something as popular as the home computer can make its way into 90% of American households inside of 10 years, then the simplicity of the e-cig in comparison makes its evolution over 5 years almost expected.

I just threw out a whole bunch of ego batteries and all the junk that went with them. Egos went through an alphabet soup stage there for while, when it seemed like every month there was a new letter, C, B, T... I kept a pack of the original cartos, for old time's sake. They had about 5 hits of liquid in there, and we all chucked that and stuffed them with aquarium foam and our own e-liquid. So glad those days are gone!

I like it most since about '14 when alot of stuff was coming out regular. All I've been having to do is hang back a few months to get great deals on the things that fall out of popularity.
Pretty crazy for a newcomer now what with all types of wire, wick, and mod boards.

I just tried to point a new vaper that just found out that they just found vaping and the rug is being pulled out from under them. They just spent a small fortune (to them) to get started.

This breaks my damn heart

Well even after 6 years I don't wrap my own coils (i have been buying pre-coiled wires) and I'm still awful at DIY juice despite almost two years of practice.

I'm buying wire, a jig and more nic just to overcome my laziness. I'm saving thousands of dollars every year. There is no excuse for me not to go all in at this point. XD

I agree, the FDA is truly screwing us over. All the new vapers can do is stock up on what they have and hope for DIY-ing some juice. Truly sad!

I got lazy too, stopped DIY ejuice, just bought ready made and never built and coils, but now I am stocked up so will start building and doing DIY juice again. I do have tons of clearos and cartos tho, so will keep using them until they are gone.

I introduced the ProVari to a coworker in January ... he has since quit smoking and dropped his nic to zero. Just today I was telling him about the deeming regs ... he told me his buddy just bought a $200 setup to quit smoking yesterday.

The FDA is dropping the hammer on millions of lives with this BS.

The early days were tough! I got so frustrated in 2009 I quit vaping until 2011 and things were getting better even then, cartos came on the scene :) It was fun seeing everything change and getting better all the time.

I was one the very lucky one's!!!!! Started with Vapor4Life kr808d's and cartos, quit smoking the day I got them! I can wrap coils and diy. Over six years vaping and tootle puffing away :) Unflavored only and still use ciga lites for convenience sometimes!!! My original kr still takes a charge! I know V4L saved my life and improved it. For that I will always be grateful!

Oh crap. I meant 808D batts. I don't know how I came up with 404D. Denial I guess.

I'm a newb and started with an I stick.I was told that if more oxygen got to my brain I would recover quicker. I owe a huge debt to vaping... I get a tad emotional But that's cool. I've learnt what I can and this forum has been a huge help. I hope we'll all vape long into the future. Cheers
