DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor. You should talk to one. They go to all kinds of school just for reasons like this. I’m just some fat old duffer who likes to poke about on the internet.

That said interpolating from what I HAVE read, the below point seems reasonable to me;

Conventional wisdom says no for two reasons:

1: nicotine can both effect and pass through the placental barrier
2: nicotine is a vasoconstrictor

These two together make for some potential ugly. The placenta is basically a big mess of blood vessels designed to support the baby. A vasoconstrictor would literally shrink it. Furthermore when it passes the placental barrier the baby is effectively vaping.

Does this mean vaping is as bad as cigarettes? No one knows because there is little research.

Does this imply it could be?
IMHO Yes, or nearly so.

There are times, and this is one of those times, when I am utterly aghast at the questions that people will ask on an internet forum, of people who are completely unknown to the questioner, about circumstances that could be critical. Anyone remotely competent to answer such a question would would not begin to address it in this venue other than to say, "What are you thinking?"

In general you SHOULD AVOID, caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol as well as several prescription drugs when pregnant or nursing. However, that does not mean the baby will be guaranteed damaged by use of these things and kids are born fine everyday that had mothers that used these things while pregnant. It does mean that risks for problems may be elevated if you use one or more of these. My personal opinion is don't risk it, it's not worth it.

ALL Medical doctors will tell you you should not vape nor smoke while pregnant. I am a nursing assistant and while vaping was not available while I was pregnant in the early 90's I would have to say NO. I would also say ask your OBGYN as they WILL tell you to stop. However, it is safer and I would NEVER suggest going on patches, gums, or lozenges as they contain the same freebase nic we use and all medications like prenatals have PG in them to keep them preserved. VG is in all food products. HOWEVER if you are a nic salt user QUIT!! Since JUUL is 50 nic it is NOT good for your baby at all.

Hope this helps coming from a nursing assistant, paramedic, and a vaping lobbyist. DO what's best for your child and that's don't drink, do drug, smoke or vape. This precious gift needs to have the absolute best start they can get!!

Good luck and my in box is always open <3

All Medical questions especially of this complexity should be answered by medical professionals.

It would be a serious mistake to consider random anonymous opinions as relevant when lives are part of a 'safe or not' type question.
Yeah but you're not allowed to lie on the internet

Let me try to put this in perspective. And I'm not speaking in the abstract. I am not having a baby. I am an old man. But I seen a pregnant woman vaping and that's why I asked. I'm no Sigmund Freud. Vape on

Sorry. Too late. I already visualize you as pregnant. That’s going to be much harder to repress then the vaping boobies thing and I’m still having trouble with that one.
