Hi guys,

I wonder if anyone can help me please,

I keep burning my throat when vaping, the taste is fine (no burnt taste) so I think my coil is fine, I have even changed it straight after once to see if it was the coil, but I am getting a horrible throat hit every time, not a coughing type but more of a sore type (if that makes any sense)

I tried changing my watts down from 29 to 23 but still no change, and I have changed my voltage down from 6.8 to 3 and still not really much difference!!

Also when I blow on the vape (rather than inhale) the smoke smells really bad, not really like burnt but just not a nice smell, I am wondering if I just need a whole new device, but I only bought this one 2 months ago.

I always prep my coils but I am wondering if I put too much ejuice in. My coils are 0.5 Ohm so I can go up to 30 watts I think with that.

I put in 5 drops, leave for 2 mins, then screw the tank on, leave for 5 - 10 mins, blow in the vape while holding the button to clean out the coil a few short times, and then vape... I have never had a problem doing it this way before, it has always tasted fine until the last few weeks... I use 3mg Nicotine ejuices so I do not think it is that...

Any advice would be appreciated!! :)

Thanks

PG/VG ratio?
New/ different e liquid source?
New / different flavor?

Could be someone made a mistake and the eliquid has a higher nic ml/mg than labeled.

Something isn’t right, if you’ve tried 6.8v ~ 3v but then say you’ve tried going down from 29w to 23w -
6.8v /.5Ω = 92w
3v / .5Ω = 18w
29w /.5Ω = 3.8v
23w / .5Ω = 3.3v

Sounds like you have a high PG juice. Besides nic level, which in your case is low, PG gives the throat hit. Try switching up to a high VG juice. I'm betting that will help you.

I just saw where you use 50/50. Find or make some and go up to 70/30 or 80/20 VG/PG.

Thank you, another one I have is PG 20% VG 80% and from what I can remember (haven't used it for a week) It still was burning my throat, but I always mix that in with my current Ejuice so maybe that is why... I will try this one on its own!

You must not tolerate much PG. Real high VG won't give much throat hit. Be interested to see if vaping that 80/20 by itself helps.

Thanks, I will give it a go and keep you updated! I just looked at the recent one I got, the normal juice I get is actually 80/20 too (I had a look at my old orders) but this time for some reason it was 50/50, I only got this EJuice a few days ago though, and this has been happening for about 3 weeks, but I am going to try it with a new coil and see if it helps!

I'm like you, it dosen't take much PG to get me coughing so I stick with 100% or Max VG blends. I'm not exactly sure what "Max VG" means as a percentage but I think what they mean is that there may be some PG as a carrier for the Nic but it dosen't amount to much in the final blend.

I was curious why you say you can see little difference in the vape given different power settings. I also see where you say that you blow through the vaporizer when you first start a new coil. Normally I only blow & fire through the coil when I know it has been sitting for a while and that first vape is really wet and gurgly. You can vape the excess liquid off but it tends to spit a lot before it settles down so I prefer to blow it off. Problem is you have to be careful not to fire it too long since you are not tasting it and it is easy to overheat it and burn your wick. And I agree the cloud that does come out dosen't smell or taste the same as if it were being vaped.

When prepping a new coil and after priming it and giving it 15 to 30 minutes to settle in try your first vape without firing, possibly even blocking the airflow holes. By doing this you are literally sucking the fluid into the coil and creating the vacuum necessary in your tank to stop it leaking and flooding the coil. Then with a very low power setting try a quick fire & vape. Crank the power up a few watts and keep repeating this. First hint of a burnt taste stop and give your wick a chance to pull in more liquid. Keep working the power up until you like the vape you are getting. You should pass from a gurgly wet vape which is tastey, often too tastey, through a sweet spot and if you go higher the taste starts to fade as the vape gets drier and warmer. Then work your way back again to that sweet spot and it will change from one juice to another. With Max VG juice you are going to find it much thicker than 50/50 and it won't wick as well so you have to more careful not to burn your coils especially with a new one. I like the smoothness and even the coolness of a Max VG juice when its vaping right.

It worked! Got my 20 PG 80 VG back and it is completely fine, I think my tank needed cleaning too...

I deffo can not do 50 PG, literally was awful!

Thanks
Glad you got your issue worked out! Now you know you have some sensitivity to PG. I, myself am the opposite. I can't do high VG. It leaves me feeling heavy chested and contested feeling. We all have to learn by trial and error what suits our individual needs and tastes.
