Vapor Newbie, 501 or Ego or your recommendation

Hello everyone. First off I would like to say thank you for all the information posted on this forum. You really answered a lot of questions I had about PV.

Now, the bad news. You have created a whole new list of questions about PV but right now I am focused on one. I can tell that I am going to have to take educated guess on what type of PV is best for me and it is more than likely that I will change my opinion as times goes on through my experience. But again thank you for all of the knowledge and thanks for any responses I may get from this post. Time for the big question.

After reading I am leaning towards the Joye501 or the Ego/Tornado. I was hoping I could get some insight from you out there that have used them and can remember what it was like to transfer from analogs to digital. The 501 is tempting because it really gives that analog look as far as style and size. But my research is telling me that I may be better off investing in the Ego because the battery life seems worth it.

I smoke in my car on the way home from work. I smoke when I walk the dog. But on the weekends I smoke like a champ at the bar. :toast:

If I had a PCC with the 501 is that good enough or do you think Im better off with an Ego.

I am buying a PV this friday. Any insight is useful to me. Thanks again.

I too was debating about whether to go with 501 or the Tornado...and I eventually decided on the tornado due to battery life and other reviews and videos I watched.
I love it!
The battery lasts all day. Vapor is great. I think it's perfect. Now, I haven't tried any other PVs so take my opinion with a grain of salt! :)
The only reason i hesitated with going with the tornado is that I wouldn't be as comfortable using it in public due to it not looking anything like an analog. But, I smoke mostly at home anyway so not such a deciding factor for me in the end.
I do use mine in the car though and have no problems.
Hope this helps! :)

First off, welcome to the forum !

Second, I think you meant to say '510' and not '501'.

I have both the 510, which was my first pv, and now use the eGo (which is basically a souped-up 510, BTW). I loved my 510, and it was a good choice for a newbie, but the eGo batteries are so much better ! Get the eGo. You will most likely cease to care how much it looks like an analog anyway.

Cool! I feel the same way about the tornado. But I guess I could always buy a 501 battery after the fact if I do get issues in public right?

I cant believe I just typed 501 instead of 510...after all the reading I did you think these numbers would be ingrained in my head by now. Thanks for the insight.

The only negatives I can see for the eGo are price and size. If you are thinking about both, then you are probably comfortable with spending a little extra and holding something a little larger. Go with the eGo. Just be sure that some juice and a couple of extra atties are in your budget as well.

I do have to say this, I think ppl are somewhat underplaying the social factor.

My first gear was Blu. Aside from the fact that it didn't really work that well, I LOVED the fact that I could just casually pull it out at the bar and not be self-conscious about putting a screwdriver/ear thermometer/sonicare into my mouth every 2 minutes.

I would definitely get both 510 kit and eGo, but 510 first. Go with 2 510 megabatteries, one manual for outside + driving, one auto for inside. In my opinion, you will be happier retaining the "cig" aspect in a bar.

Your eGo will be your commute, sit at home, do whatever you want vape. But your 510 will be your "social" vape.

If I only had an eGo and I went to a bar I would feel kinda weird taking it out, but not a 510, that thing kicks ....

PS- Cartomizers are your frieeend.

I totally see where you are coming from. Here is my question for you. What do I need to carry in order to go bar and socially vape for the night at the bar?

One reason the ego is better to me in a bar is it sits on its end and you wont leave it in an ashtray for someone to throw away or have any issues leaning it on something. After the first few times in a bar with it, it will be fine.Feeling like a freak the first time going out was kinda funny really and that was with a 510, the attention I get with it is over 99% positive.

You mean like a case? Yeah that was the other beauty about Blu, that dang awesome case.

The 510 and eGo will need some kind of external case, but be wary, most carrying cases do not stash your e-cig assembled. Meaning, you have to lock-and-load your ecig every time you need to. Kind of pimp, I don't know. Also, be wary that you don't accidentally buy a case that doesn't fit 510 megabatteries

My novice idea would be to keep your 510 cartomizers "condoms" the rubber covers. Keep the short cover on the end of your e-cig and just put it in your pocket or soemthing. It will be okay in there, the auto-batts may randomly activate though. Be wary. When it's vape time, take the condom off and put it on the end that glows to not lose it. I don't know it's kind of a sucky idea.

:| Be wary. :glare:

The Silver Bullet with a LR atty on 3.7V is what I recommend if you want good vape with long battery life. They say the battery will last 48 hours, I wouldn't know since I just charge it up when I sleep. My job is on the go all the time so I love never switching battery's =)

Always check out youtube reviews of electronic cigarettes BEFORE you buy!

I meant what do you have on you for the night. How many batteries? Do you have a PCC? Does that help the battery issue through the night?

A single eGo batt should last you well thru the night; mine last almost 24 hours, but YMMV.
If you go with a standard 510, then yes, a PCC would probably be a good idea.
