Zink is easy to cast and machine. Density wise, it's about 3x aluminum and roughly same as stainless, but it's still not exactly heavy for relatively small amount used in a mod enclosure.

I have a cast zink mod and it's not exactly a boat anchor or anything lol. I'd say handle it with the batteries in and then decide if it's too heavy. The batteries are going to be the most significant part of overall weight.

My single 18650 SX Mini, made of zinc, is considerably heavier than my dual 18650 Flasks. My X Cube II, also made of zinc is ludicrously heavy, and I never use it. My old Cloupor Mini 18650, also made of zinc, is heavy for its size. And all have craptastic finishes.

Now imagine a dual 18650 zinc "Flassic", it'll weigh in at over 300g at a minimum with batteries, which is (for me) Too. Damned. Heavy. If the mod doesn't fit comfortably in my pocket without pulling my pants down, and it risks breaking my toes when dropping it, it's too damn heavy, and is therefore useless to me. Just my own personal thing, I know some folks love heavy mods. I'm not one of them.

Yeah its not like zinc alloy is double the weight.

most of the weight from my X-cube II was purely batteries.

my reuleaux is pretty damn light without batteries. slightly heavier than my IPV3 LI.

are you seriously dumping mods for like maybe a 20-50 gram difference. didn't know vapers were such physically weak people that 100 grams means something is heavy as .....

and I have had more issues with non-zinc alloyed crap than zinc. old DNA 30 clone. zinc alloy. finish is still perfect other than some dents from rough handling. reuleaux. zinc alloy. still perfectly fine.

the vapor shark rDNA200 is now aluminium right? that finish is a horrible.

I haven't had any paint issues with any mod that uses zinc alloy. ever.

It's going to be closer to 100g difference between the aluminum flask and the zinc version. That's substantial.

EDIT: Just weighed my X Cube II and Flask with and without batteries.
X Cube without batteries: 240g
Flask without batteries : 175g

X Cube with batteries (LG HG2): 342g
Flask with batteries (LG HG2): 262g

I really liked their mods, they are all up to the VF standards. But I think the Joyetech boards just ruin the device. The boards aren't bad by any means, but I think VF is taking a step back by offering a budget board in such a high quality mod. They'll definitely make a ton of money mass producing them like this though. But the board itself, in my opinion, will destroy the quality I think of when I think of VF. I'll end up thinking of VF as a Joyetech product in a stainless steel box.

I absolutely agree. I might be in the minority but I would happily pay $50-$80 more and have a legit board.

USA midwest
All industries consolidate over time. Just the nature of capitalism and market forces.

Well watching the last few decades, market forces also put most industries in the US to being made off shore.

Based on your "capitalism and market forces" philosophy, I guess that is next (for eliquid, since the hardware end is already not HERE )

Unless suddenly, a new pattern is going to be followed out of the blue?

Yeah, the mod and atomizer market is mostly "off shore" already (and it STARTED that way). Provape, VF's SX Flask, and a handful of low-production volume drippers and mech mods do not constitute a strong domestic market. Hell, even Evolv now exports most of their boards, where they're then re-imported inside Chinese mods.

The juice market will be more like, oh, the current alcohol market..there will be imports (mostly high end), but a strong domestic production, and all dominated by a few major players.
