I need another mod like I need another hole in my head. But in the interest of science,I'll have to buy the stout so I can test it for you guys. You know,to be sure it's safe and all that. ;)
the word 'need' is out of place on this forum and should be replaced with 'must have'...:)

Some how I just had a feeling that Wismec/Joyetech migh be the next YiHi.

Yihi made their bones making boards for other companies and modders, and they're a fairly new company at that. I mean, their first in-house mod was released less than a year ago.

Joyetech's been around for a long time (well, a long time for the young vaping industry), and they innovated quite a few things we take for granted now. eLeaf is their way of competing in the lower price market, Joyetech kinda went hard for the mid-range market in the last year or so and gave up some of their name value in the process, so Wismec is their way of getting back into the premium (mass produced) market. And they're doing it right, partnering with talented designers.

I really liked their mods, they are all up to the VF standards. But I think the Joyetech boards just ruin the device. The boards aren't bad by any means, but I think VF is taking a step back by offering a budget board in such a high quality mod. They'll definitely make a ton of money mass producing them like this though. But the board itself, in my opinion, will destroy the quality I think of when I think of VF. I'll end up thinking of VF as a Joyetech product in a stainless steel box.

I hope that wismec boards and software are good. I find that joyetech ramp up and power is not really strong. This happen when I have doubt in my D2 while using Starre Pro tank and it seems like giving a too hard punch, so I tried it on the other 3 mods, VTC Mini White, VTC Mini Black and VT40. Well VTC Minis apparently giving me good vape and VT40 slightly lower that VTC Minis.
I am vaping at 30 watts using 0.25 coil heads, so it seems these boards have different boost in their firing. I am not sure if I am making any sense here.
So I concluded that either my D2 is wonky or these 3 mods I have is rather weak or it could be a safety feature.
With this partnership, meaning Wismec Flask will be mill in China (By Sigelei...lol) and assemble there too.
Not scientific but my D2 also seems to push out more than my other similar mods(single 18650) At the same wattage and just taking a tank and moving it back and forth between mods, the D2 is punchier. I love my D2's.

The Stout will be mine I reckon.

Which is why their premium flagship product, the SX Flask will still be made in-house, and most likely the same thing when they roll out the DNA200 version. And you can instantly spot the Wismec version. It's not devaluing the brand, anymore than say, VW devalues an Audi, or Chevy devalues Cadillac. Different market segments. The guy that bought a $280 SX Flask probably wasn't going to opt for the $100 WisFlask, but the guy that bought one of the WisFlasks might be interested in getting the top-shelf version some day.

I thought the new enclosures were zinc alloy? I thought I heard Charlie say it in the video...or was it on the facebook page?? I get so confused!

Well, if they're zinc, he can keep 'em, as far as I'm concerned. Seriously. The Classic will weigh a ton, and the Light won't be...light.

um why? I have mods that are zinc-alloy and they are fine.

Too damn heavy, finishes don't adhere well. I got rid of my first SX Mini M class mostly because of the excessive weight and poor finish, both direct consequences of using zinc, and that's a high end zinc mod. It's even worse with the "cheap" ones like the Smok or Cloupor products. I love the Flask, in large part because of the lack of weight and the durable finish, both direct consequences of using aluminum.

So, knowing that they're zinc, the Wismec VF line now has no appeal AT ALL for me. Same applies to the Reuleaux, for that matter. Shame, but that's the way it is.

Zink is easy to cast and machine. Density wise, it's about 3x aluminum and roughly same as stainless, but it's still not exactly heavy for relatively small amount used in a mod enclosure.

I have a cast zink mod and it's not exactly a boat anchor or anything lol. I'd say handle it with the batteries in and then decide if it's too heavy. The batteries are going to be the most significant part of overall weight.

Oh, makes sense. I prefer the bare finish so not worried about adhesion.

Yeah its not like zinc alloy is double the weight.

most of the weight from my X-cube II was purely batteries.

my reuleaux is pretty damn light without batteries. slightly heavier than my IPV3 LI.

are you seriously dumping mods for like maybe a 20-50 gram difference. didn't know vapers were such physically weak people that 100 grams means something is heavy as .....

and I have had more issues with non-zinc alloyed crap than zinc. old DNA 30 clone. zinc alloy. finish is still perfect other than some dents from rough handling. reuleaux. zinc alloy. still perfectly fine.

the vapor shark rDNA200 is now aluminium right? that finish is a horrible.

I haven't had any paint issues with any mod that uses zinc alloy. ever.
