Thanks I will order this tester. Great info.

So the Vaporshark cable in the box is not 2A but it will still charge but at a slower speed?

The cable is not the point. All cables I know of that pass both power and data can pass 2A.

It is the connector to the wall that is either 0.05a, 1.00A, or 2.00A. As you know (?) the VS 200 has an onboard 2A charger. It is the combination of all three elements that makes 2A charging possible,

It is a very pleasurable thing to watch the VS 200 charging at 2A's. Quick and easy.

Not all cables can pass 2 amps. it is a matter if the length vs. wire awg.

Not true. There are cheap USB cables that can't pass more than 500ma (old spec). Some can't handle a full 2a so they only go up to 1.5a or 1.7a. I didn't even try to use the cable that came with my VS. I know for a fact that Samsung, LG and Blackberry USB micro cables can pass a full 2a tested. I bought a 5 pack of Anker 3' cables that work great. They also make 6' cables. Monoprice.com and Cablestogo.com are 2 sites that have reliable cables too.

You can also set your display to show amps going in on the DNA200 while charging so you don't need a usb meter but they're handy to have around. I have one of these.

Trivial correction of a trivial error that could lead to misunderstanding:

Without a 2A source your destination will never receive 2A, despite the VS capability. Seems obvious but I had to double-check because of the implication that the VS would show 2A with merely a proper 2A cable and the VS 2A, internal, charger.

So again, the iPhone charger will pass, at most, 1A; the iPad will pass 2A (from the wall socket). Plugging into the iPhone charger the VS screen (set to read charging amps) never gets above about 0.94A. Using the iPad charger both the USB Tester and the VS screen goes to or very near the 2A.

Summary: For 2A charging of the VS all three elements I mentioned, above, are required.

I think for $200 they should throw one in the box.

I believe I paid $160 on the labor day sale. With all the new dna200s on the market, how long do you think it will be before they drop the price?

Yes, I just assumed everyone knew to start with a 2a USB charging source.
Funny thing, Lavabox included a 2a adapter and everyone assumed the device had 2a charging.

I really hate to say this....I had 4 rDna 40's (3 Glitched) and one came with cosmetic issues. I had a VT200 by HCigar and didn't like it. I took a chance and bought the VS DNA200 from Sweet Vapes since they had the newest version with the paint issues fixed. I got it yesterday and can't put it down. I think I found something to finally retire my Sx Mini M Class. I got my Uwell Crown on the Shark right now and loving it. So far the battery has lasted me a day and a half and I just did a quick charge. I was about to go with the Lavabox but decided I would give VS a 5th try and this thing is perfect. I will not order from VS though because of the issues with the credit cards. Sweet Vapes had it for the same price and no waiting so I feel like it was still a good deal.

I really like the USB cable that came with it. If anybody has a VS USB Cable they aren't gonna use shoot me a pm. I would like to own a few more of them.

Given talk about VS 2A charging , and, @jstrong mention of the Lavabox (I own both) pulled the wall charger from the Lavabox box [emoji18] to check its V's and A's. Interesting:

The Lavabox wall charger, a flat, rectangular, very lightweight, pocketable plastic enclosure has an odd spec, not mentioned anywhere I have seen.

According to my USB tester it is apparently spec'd to 1.5A at 4.8-ish volts. Weird!

They usually do. Black friday. I'd get a prepaid cc to buy it though. The VS DNA200 is one of my favorite mods. My rDNA40 bought just before Thanksgiving last year is still one of my favorites too. I sold both SX350j mods I had (SXM and Boxer) because they aren't accurate and I was constantly getting burnt hits. Lowering the temps helped but I also got a weaker vape.

I tried plugging the shark in next to my bed last night to charge. Dang cable wouldn't reach my stand. Starting to realize 2ft is not gonna cut it except at close range or at the computer. I am wondering how this would work

It's funny all the talk about usb cables and charging at 2A. It all comes down to wire gauge inside the cable. What you are looking for is 24 awg on the charge wire. Most usb cables today are 28/ 24. Which means the data wires are 28 awg and the charge wire is 24 awg. 24 gauge is what is required for charging at 2A.
So it doesn't matter if it's usb 2.0 cable or a 3.0. Only the charge wire gauge matters. Good luck finding it listed though.
But know this, if they can get away with packaging a cheaper cable, they will and do. Copper ain't cheap.

USB 3.0 has a wider connector that wont fit the dna 200 port and I wouldn't recommend using 24g charge only cables. I thought the gold-plated cable I bought from Best Buy was charging properly even though it wouldn't connect to escribe. It would stay at 1.95a all the way to 95% before it started balancing at around .5a, but after a few weeks it was going to 0.00a around 94-98% and I noticed it was charging much hotter than the VS data cable (which constantly fluctuates between 0-2a up to 100% every time).

When it stopped charging at 84% last week I connected it straight to escribe and all three cells were at 4.2v but the charge estimate in device monitor was at 8.45wh... I tried setting the battery capacity to 8.45 and the device screen jumped to 100%. I was hoping that was too low though so set it back to 10.22 and changed the DM charge estimate to 10.22 manually and it jumped back to 100% and fully charged on the next cycle. It stopped at 98% the next day though so I figured maybe my battery really was 8.45wh, but tried the VS cable and its been charging to 100% at 10.22wh without getting hot since then. I don't think 24g cables allow the balancing to function properly at 2a because all the ones I own charge at a constant current (all varying widely between 1.6-1-9) while the VS cable is always balancing.

I'm not sure what usb cables you're buying but they should have the exact same connector as a 2.0 cable. Micro usb is a specification for the connector. It shouldn't vary at all.
The 3.0 micro USB connectors have more pins than 2.0 micro usb cables. A 3.0 connector won't fit in a 2.0 port. You can use a 2.0 cable in 3.0 devices or ports but it will be limited to 2.0 transfer speeds.

All this USB cable stuff is making my head spin.

I know you have to have a 2A source. I know the cable has to be able to carry 2A of current and I feel monoprice has some of the better cables to do that. Can anybody confirm the VS cable that comes with the mod can carry a 2A load? I like the cable but haven't tested yet because it is so darn short.
