OK, so it's been a little over 2 weeks in now and I think I'm starting to develop a bit of a problem.

So far I've managed to get my hands on an eGo T a 510 and a KR808D plus a bunch of cartos, tanks attys and the obligatory schwack of juices (I've currently got 31 flavours). Apparently I'm slightly obsessed

I've just tried out a 306 LR atty and Wow! the difference in flavour is incredible, I tried a few juices that I had written off and to my surprise they tasted much better.

And now I'm starting to think about Variable Voltage and what kind of crazy changes diving into that end of the pool would be like. Problem is that most of the variable voltage mods out there are somewhat on the pricy side.

I'm not afraid to spend the money if I find that I like it but I'd like to get some ideas on less expensive models that I can get a good experience with.

Check out the Krimson Kustoms thread. I got a dual 18650 VV with 2 led's and a recessed drip cup for $112, for reference a Provari runs around $240. He makes smaller stuff at lower prices as well.

I agree with the above you can get an evercool VV from James to see if you like it for 55 I believe. See his thread for prices. He is a really nice guy. Very helpful to a novice in my experience.

There are quite a few people who did go down the VV road only to end up going back to 3.7. With the right atty or carto and a decent 3.7 device, its fine as it is.

All the decent pv's that can do higher volts are going to be at least $100. You can always keep an eye out in the classifieds. A silver bullet can do 3.7, 5, or 6 volt with different batteries. I've seen them in the classifieds from time to time for under $100. It just goes up from there. I have a reo grand that can do the same as a silver bullet but I haven't been tempted to try it yet. I tried vaping at 6v on someones SB and although it was a neat experience I'm quite happy at 3.7.

Just my 2 cents.

Silver bullet is $85 (used to be $80) so don't pay a cent over that unless batteries and a charger is included. The old buzz is a great option, but to get the full spectrum of variable voltage, u need good batteries:

Black AWs or IMR high drains are great options

A lot of people don't necessarily want 6v, most are looking for that 4v-5v range, you can achieve 4v-4.2v with the new ego variable voltage devices. So consider than an option =)

Maybe down there in the us. In Canada we have to pay for the team of sled dogs to import things for us. So it's a little higher.:(

On the other hand an ego booster from happy vapor is supposed to be pretty decent. Grimmgreen said it worked pretty well. Weird looking though.

if you want a VV mod, don't care for shiny and fancy, just want somethign that works and does the job requested, that isn't going to cost you an arm and a leg and you don't want to put it together yourself, talk to me... I'll walk you through what you need to do to have a VV device for ~25$ plus shipping.

essentially I like tinkering, but can't afford to keep making boxmod after boxmod so I'm making them for fun at my own pace and after making them, i price out the parts and then let someone else pay for the parts and shipping and give it to them at my cost.

I make no money and don't want to make money, just wanna play and be able continue to play without spending my grocery budget... there are no guarantees on when or where i will have them available... no waiting lists... just "Hey, this one is done, it cost me this much... Oh, there you go, Enjoy"

if you have your own idea of what you'd like to have made and i haven't anything else to do, talk to me, get the parts, ship them to me and i'll assemble them for you and send it back.

thats all i do, i don't manufacture or supply anything, just assemble parts for fun.

If all you want is the Variable Voltage without any of the complications of having to buy new attys or specialized protected batteries and the like, GR(Gentlemen's reserve) has a VV ego battery. Mind you it isnt an authentic Joye product, but it works well.

You can set it to 3.2, 3.7 & 4.2 volts. An LED lit button ring changes color to let you know what you are vaping at. It also comes with an LED battery life indicator. They are 900 mAh batteries.

Nice and simple. Works with all your regular eGo things. Round 25$ i think...

That said, I don't need anything stronger than a LR atty on 3.7 V, so I rarely use it.

Also if you crank up a LR atomizer or the -T atomizers beyond 3.7 volts you are drastically reducing their lifespan.

LR atomizer in particular are optimized to work at their maximum with 3.7 volts. Pushing them beyond that is simply over extending their abilities.

HV atomizers where designed to last at higher voltages. Ironically they way they do that is increasing the resistance so at higher voltages they are actually performing as a regular atomizer would at lower voltage.

This isn’t to turn anyone off VV. Just please understand VV is a way to fine tune your vapor, not turbo charge atomizers.

I have used many different vv devices and if you do the math when you up the voltage and up the resistance everything remains the same a good battery and a good low resistance atomizer and you produce the same amount of vapour taste throat hit ect.actually at 5 volts with 3 ohm atty your vapour would be not as warm...probably less maybe not noticeably but less all the same.variable voltage is great for people who like to twist knobs and push buttons but totally unneaded
cheers
