because i use only genesis attys i figured i ask this question on this thread instead of the more specific, variable voltage thread. but anyways i own a provari and use a couple different genesis atomizers. i most always use this set-up, 0.09 to 1.2 ohm coils around 3.3 to maybe 4 volts and somewhere between 12 to 14 watts. i like it low. despite popular belief, to me the provari handles this fine. i am looking to buy another vv device and ultimately might get another provari. but if there are users out there that vape at similiar numbers and are using another type of vv mod, let me know what they are. i remember seeing a vid on another mod that states it has a 5 amp limit, but when trying a low ohm coil on a genny it actually cut out under like 1.2 ohms and like 3.2 volts (could of been just a bad coil). i do not remember the mod. i also own a couple of mechanical mods as well and do not want another. just another vv mod that works really well with this set-up. thanks guys

If you could come up with a way to test a vv device that has pulse modulation I think you'd be surprised at how little wattage you can use and still have good performance. I think it's because the "on" is at a higher voltage and which gets the electrons moving quicker, but I could be wrong about that lol.

If you start this video at 10:55 and stop it at 10:56, you can see the unit from Young June Technology is putting out 5.76 volts (Vmax), then turning it off and back on for a Vavg of 4.34 volts. A PBusardo Review - In Depth Chrome Lava Tube Comparison - YouTube

I picked mine up from Vaporbeast (it's called the Vector there) and I couldn't be happier. I'm using recoiled reduxes and my coils are coming in at about 2.2 ohm and with an extra wrap 2.9 ohms. I vape the 2.2 ohm ones at 3.0 to 3.2 volts, and the 2.9 ones at 3.7 to 3.9 volts.

2.9 ohms and 3.9 volts is just over 5 watts and it hits like a train.

I think the cut off is 3 amps on these things, so there's no way you could get the wattage you're talking about above. But if you wrapped your coils out to about 1.8 ohms and hit them with 4.5 volts, you'd be getting 2.5 amps and over 11 watts. That's more than twice the wattage I'm using and I can't imagine what that would hit like, but you'd still be within the limits of the unit and save the old batteries a ton.

Like I said, if you can come up with a way to try before you buy, it might be worth trying.

thanks, yes with the provari 0.08 is the lowest i can go, although i usaully shoot just alittle higher than that. so do they make a VV hybrid?

No there aren't any VV Hybrids. Other than the Provari, the Vamo is the best PV around. IMHO I think it is better than the provari....You can do VV and VW with it and it is far more accurate than anything else out of china...its level of accuracy is on par with the Provari...when in RMS mode. Since it has three buttons it is far easier to use its functions..like checking the battery life and and checking resistance, upping/lowering the wattage/voltage etc. The only problem is, like I said before... the cutoff is at 1.2ohms...you would have to switch to a 30g kanthal wire or do more wraps with the 28g.

I just picked up a Vamo today. I haven't had a chance to fool with it much, other than to quickly throw a Mini Nova on it, just to make sure it worked. I'm anxious to set up a Genny on it. I also have a couple Sigeleis, which I got recently. Been using Provaris for well over a year. I'm also anxious to see how these new VV/VW mods hold up over the long haul.

ya thats funny, i have tried a higher ohmed coil at a higher voltage compared to a lower ohmed coil and lower voltages that maybe both equaled the same higher wattage that i like and like the lower of the two.

...As do I. I feel like lower-resistance coils are a bit more responsive, no matter the voltage- among other things.

Amp-limitation and low-resistance cutoff are two different features that usually operate independently of each other, even though they both might accomplish a similar task at times.

I vape at 12-14 watts as well on VV mods, but I can't recommend any that I have because they're all second-rate at this point. The Vamo and the Sigelei both interest me, though, and at the moment I'm just trying to find the best deal out there on either of them, without ordering from china or a co-op.

Make sure to be in the no2 mode....the accurate mode. I really like it a lot...haven't had any problems with it so far...hope you enjoy it too.

I just finished setting the Vamo up with a new Chobra. So far, I'm pretty impressed with it. Nice mod, for about 1/3 the cost of a Provari.

I have both a Sigelei and a Vamo. Vamos are a bit less expensive; but so far, mine is working well, although I've had it less than 24 hours. The performance of the Vamo and the Sigelei are comparable; but I prefer the OLED display and operation of the menu of the Sigelei better. It's more straightforward, and "Provari like". I do like the fact that the Vamo can convert to a mini, if desired.
I don't know about the internals of the Provari. They are supposedly Military spec., whatever that involves. As far as the safety cut offs on the Provari, I'm sure it's somewhat overkill.
