Why do so many vendors list their products with generic names or cute names instead of the actual make and model? What's the rationale?

What I bought turns out to be a RN4075. I like it, works well. But it was listed simply as a mini e-cig.

In going through as many vendors sites as I can, and keep straight in my feeble brain what I've looked at, seems as though most aren't up-front as to what they have to offer.

Is there a reason or bussiness strategy for this?

I asked the same question when I first started vaping in another forum and was told, It was just not possible to get these people to me totally honest with us, it was too much to ask for.

Since then we have got a lot more information out of them and the answers are on the forum somewhere to your question. I saw a list the other day that corralates the models by names and numbers. It really needs to be a sticky so we can find it.

I've said this before: It's very simple just put the model number in your description of the device (RNXXX or DSEYYY) on your sites!!!!!!

The compatibility list is nice but that doesn't tell me what EACH supplier is selling. THAT is what I want to know.

Thanks
gep

If they did that, then customers would just buy the same model from China or from a cheaper supplier.

These suppliers will then be unable to charge from above $50 up to $150 for an ecig. This of course, does not apply to everyone.

Yes, well, that aside, Fedor.....

I'm finding that when I buy parts from different suppliers they aren't always compatible.

For example: I have a penstyle atomizer that works with my batteries but not with my passthrough. The atomizer is an RN and the passthrough is a DSE.....I know there are workarounds BUT I DON'T WANNA! :p I'm a CONSUMER. I want to CONSUME.

So please list your model numbers so that customers have fewer headaches to endure than we already have.

The option is that I only buy from suppliers who list the model numbers. Which, in the long run, appears to be the solution with which I will be left. :(

BTW: Ideally I would buy based on the quality/durability of the merchandise, the service and then the price. Lately, I'm forced to buy based solely on availability. However, I have found some pretty good suppliers doing that so maybe it's not such a bad thing after all.

The reason we like to name our e-cigs is for "Branding" purposes. For example, The "Pilot" is sold by one supplier and I'm sure everyone knows who. Some suppliers also say they carry a different model number than what they actually have because they are compatible in hardware. Yes, you need to be careful who you buy from. Oh, and no one has a truely unique e-cig. All suppliers buy from China and can buy anything they want to. So, before you buy anything ask the supplier what model number they have. If they don't tell you, then don't buy from them. If your still a little uneasy about if that's the right model number, post that question on here. There are so many members on here that know the true model numbers and can tell you the truth.

Not all suppliers do that however, we list the true model numbers before our own name for our products, so that our customers know exactly what they are buying. We hope that our customers will return, but if they don't at least they will know what they have and can look for those parts for the model they actually own.

Also, the site that has a list of what the true e-cigs are and there various names is: E-Cigarette Models

Suppliers don't list the model numbers because they want you to think that what they have is unique and different from what the other stores are selling. And if they gave you the model number then you would no longer be forced to get parts for your e-cig from them.

Yep, it's what we call business. There are so many vendors selling the exact same stuff. They have to try anything that they can to keep loyalty. Good customer service is key in this game I've found. There are way too many inexperienced businessmen throwing sites up.

Because none of them has thought it through well enough or care to do things in s manner that is consumer responsible and sensible. Forget the hardware issue for a second and start considering the truly dangerous part of the equation...the nicotine liquid!...same story there...all i know is that if I were reselling this stuff theres no way my name goes on it unless i manuafctured and tested it myself...id be leaving the manufacturers name on it thats for sure...and id have several million dollars in liability insurance to boot because an LLC will not protect you in a drug case which involves blatant negligence on the part of either the sellers or manufacturers...

Guess we've all seen the movie miracle on 34th street.

Ya know when Macy's send it's customers to a different department store when they're out of stock.

If the supplier isn't willing to post the model # they're selling, maybe when they're out of stock and we're desperately seeking a replacement part they could direct us to who has the parts in stock instead of letting their good customers run around searching.
That would keep me especially loyal :D

I dunno would seem simpler to list the model.

I know the original question was "Why not list the actual Model number?"

I understand branding, marketing, customer loyalty, yadda yadda yadda.

BUT: We all KNOW these are manufactured by only a few companies and that they are all either RN's or DSE's or whatever, so they are revealing NOTHING that isn't already there.

They can call them John, Paul, George and Ringo
They can call them Ray. They Can call them Jay
They can call them Ray Jay

But I would like them to INCLUDE the model number.

And so far I've yet to hear a viable, credible, reasonable reason from any of the vendors why this small piece of information cannot be included in the description of their "Uber Max Fumo Extraordinary Fog Stick" (Model xyz 123).

It's a very simple question.
Here, let me help:

A) I don't want to bother adding that info to my website
B) I already do that, go find something else to ..... about
C) Model numbers? We don't need no stinkin' model numbers!
D) I guess I could add that info to my website once I have a free moment filling these orders.
E) I didn't see your post. What was the question?

Pick one. ;)
