My Reo Mini isn't working. The batteries aren't making a connection, the firing pin wont reach the positive end. The spring still looks the same but i have no clue what is wrong. I am only using AW IMR 14500's, and have been for a couple weeks since ive had it. They've always fit snug in the mini and this is a drastic change. The battery wont even make a connection with the door on and I dont know what to do. They fall out if i tilt it over, I'm so sad.

I shouldn't try to bend the spring up right? I don't want to harm this thing, I dont know how this happened.

no, don't do that without troubleshooting with Rob. So have you gone through the usual suspects?
1. On/off switch
2. Checked the battery either by multimeter or on another device?
3. Checked the atty either by multimeter or on another device?
4. Has the spring compressed?
5. Has the firing pin swiveled out of the way?
6. This happened to me recently...seriously  I felt so dumb...my atty had somehow been unscrewed a bit so it lost connection.

I think the spring is not lifting my battery high enough, the gap between the positive end of the battery and firing pin is a fairly large gap and it won't contact at all.

This carto is still working now on my eGo, i just tested all my batteries and they are all still testing in the 4.0+ ranges.

That is what happens when you get a short, usually in an atty or adapter. The spring will collapse as a safety feature.

I agree with mlinky and Nyxie....if its not reaching anymore, then something probably caused the spring to collapse. Need to check the battery and the atomizer and adapter (if you're using one) to see one or all of them are bad. If this is the case, the spring will need to be replaced. It is time to contact Rob. :)

Well is this bad? Can it be fixable? I don't have that much money until next Friday. I can't live without my Reo Mini, i'm totally devastated right now.

edit: would this happen if my mother was looking at it and put the battery in the wrong way? or if my 306 is not working right? or just messing around with a gooseneck(even tho i know it wont feed, just for a picture) ??

Yes it is fixable, Rob had mine back to me in a couple of days. But make sure you do not use the same atty and battery when you get it fixed or it will happen again. I learned the hard way about that. I shorted mine 2 times with the same adapter because I wasn't paying attention.

I doubt if your Mom broke it and I can't see a goosneck doing anything. My problem was that my center pin on an adapter had come out to far and shorted my grand. adapters.jpg Shouldnt look like that.

Oh wow, that's good to know. I didn't see anything about that safety feature -- is that in the literature Nyxie?

So sorry silentt -- I'm sure rob will have you up and running as soon as possible...

Hm I am not sure if it is in the literature, I have never gotten any LOL. I already had my grand and mini before Rhaps made up the literature.

Well with my eGo's i just put it on the positive and negative and fire it and it shows what the voltage it's firing at. I've done it numerous times and it's been fine. So it's either the meter pin went to far in? or could a upside down battery short it out?

The upside down battery shouldn't have done it. I go with choice #1. It can probably be fixed with a new spring. Call Rob.

Yes, it is totally fixable. I don't think an upside down battery would do that, but I'm no expert. The atty that's not working right though, could do it. Putting another atty on it without firing it shouldn't make a difference. I would throw that atty away. If you want to keep it, then mark it and never put it on the REO again. Make sure you double check your battery using a multimeter to make sure its still okay.

*edit....it could be from putting the mm lead in the atty connector. Just get a hold of Rob...it will be okay. :)

I emailed rob since it's almost midnight here. I never thought this could of happened, can't believe how sad i am. Picture a big 6'5'' 200lbs man sad over a object the size of a credit card. :(

edit: i think the multimeter did it, the positive pin of the meter slipped pretty far down into the connector. I'm so mad at myself, i didn't think that could of harmed my Reo. I'll never do that again.
