Heyas Deathwhitch,

If you've decided that a v4l kit is for you, I'd suggest pulling the trigger. I've never ordered from them, but they're well spoken of here, and it seems like a noob friendly product. Try not to be too worried about ordering the perfect kit the first time. It seems pretty rare for posters here to buy one kit, and never move on. As long as you're buying something at least halfway decent, the worst that happens is you learn alot more about vaping, and your personal preferences, move on to a bigger/better/sthealthier/whatever kit, and PIF your first purchase. I gave away my first two kits to smokers I know that were intrigued when they saw me vaping. Last I knew, neither of them had quit analogs, or got seriously into vaping, but hey, I did my part :p

:D

If you want to educate yourself and get a better understanding of the basics I always recommend http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ping-illustrated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html as this 6 part series was a great help to me when I started. A little dated, but the basics are there and it is an entertaining read.

That 6 part series helped me become educated about vaping and e-cigs. I've just recently gotten around to ordering my own kit and starting vaping, but so far so good. I went with a starter kit from V4L and am loving it so far. Thanks so much to all the veterans of the site who are so willing to help out us newbies. :)

It's always interesting to see the learning curve on new vaper's. :)

Majority always want to start with something that "Most Closely" resembles an analog, and juice flavor that "Most Closely" mirrors their analog brand.

Within a month, many are already buying kits with larger, longer lasting batteries, and experimenting with dozens of sampler packs of flavors. :)

I'm not going to start a cartomizer vs Atomizer debate, both have their merits. To say an Atty is primarily used for drip testing flavors, is hardly accurate. Many use Atomizers 100% of the time.

The main focus is to find a kit, that reliably produces quality vapor and flavor, and get your feet wet, and see if vaping works for you!

Or in the case of some of us - even before our cigarette look alike even arrives, we've pulled the trigger for larger, longer lasting batteries and sampler pack juices from three or four different vendors. ****whistles**** looks over at the end table at my lonely cigarette look alike that I hardly touch now......

Welcome to the forum - I'm a week into vaping and I absolutely LOVE my Ego-C from Ovale. I bought starter kits from The Safe Cig for myself and my boyfriend, and two days later ordered myself the Ego-C (because I discovered this forum two days later). Two days after my Ego arrived, I ordered another Ego-C starter kit for him.

He will probably stick with The Safe Cig Micro until the carto's run out on him (they are sold out on the only flavor he's willing to try right now - menthol), so I've got menthol samples from various vendors on the way to find the one he likes most, and have his Ego kit charged up and waiting for him. I've got a co-worker who wants to buy my Safe Cig Micro starter kit from me (who also thinks they only want a cigarette look alike).

My BF's two batteries were completely drained by the end of the day, and I was still vaping on a single charge.

You've certainly come to the right place! I hope that your vaping journey starts off as fun as mine has been with the help of the great folks here!

We've all been there. Thing is, there are so many good options out there now. A couple of years ago there were basically 3 or 4 choices lol. 510,901,801 or a garage built mod you had to wait a month for. This game has come a long way since I started.

Yeah the v4l seems to be a good start, just wish I could one of each type of batt and different flavors with the kit. Also I just simply refuse to call cigs an "analog" lol as a tech that terms doesnt feel right when applied to tobacco, I'll just call them "traditional" cigs. Seems more fitting

You can get a manual & auto from V4L in your kit. I did. Also, you get one pack of cartos in the kit, which you could choose from one of their sampler packs if you like...

Yeah my idea here is find something I can still step outside with smokers and enjoy without looking like a total fruit lol At least til I get them to switch with me :p

I am already curious to try new flavors and bigger batteries, mainly because I thought the Blu disposible mentol actually tasted like chocolate, just left a bad after taste. Nevertheless it was enough to make me curious. I do rip offs exist. Afew puffs of the barely tolerable 150$ ecig at the mall taught me that. I made the guy mad when I litterally LOL at him when he told me the prize, all I said was "good luck with that" and walked away

You know what? If your co-workers are anything like most of mine, they're still going to make fun of you and tease you even with a cigarette look alike. Karl and I work for the same company and the guys he goes to break with are intrigued, but still tease him about it. The group I go to break with are less so, but still are waiting to see if I stick with it.

In the end, Karl and I will be the ones laughing, because we were recently acquired, and the health insurance with the new company charges an additional $75 a month if you use tobacco products. Between the two of us, we'll be saving $150 a month just on the health insurance, while those laughing and teasing will be coming out of pocket for that. That doesn't even account for the savings on cigarettes that we no longer have to buy. :p

You know they test for nicotine when testing for tobacco products don't you? It's my understanding that vapers and cig smokers are still lumped together.

Actually, I asked specifically about that at our benefits meeting two weeks ago. Electronic cigarettes do not count as tobacco products. They don't test for it, it's an "honor" system where you say yes or no. Of course, it's sort of hard to hide that you are smoking when you stand outside in the smoking area puffing away. ;-)

Glad it works out that way for you guys.

There have been several threads here over the years\months that have stated that when tested....they failed due to nicotine. One day the insurance company's might wise up though and view the two differently.

It's probably cost prohibitive to test all the employees. We have 21K employees worldwide. In fact, when I asked the VP of HR in the meeting for my company (who was recently acquired by this larger company), he literally laughed out loud and said "it SAYS TOBACCO products. Electronic cigarettes are NOT tobacco products".

That's cool. But...lol I always have a BUT to throw out there....But, have you considered what could happen if you tested positive for nic after claiming to not be a tobacco product user? Could that end up costing you your policy via a way for them to wiggle out of paying up? Might be something to consider.

Anything is always possible, but the bottom line is I changed to vaping for my overall health. A hospital scare for Karl two weeks ago, and this policy just pushed me to do it sooner. And I can already tell that my lung function is improving after just one week. We both took Nyquil each night just to calm down our coughs enough to get to sleep. Neither of us have had to use it in the last several nights - we're sleeping better, we're not hacking and coughing persistently like we used to. I say it's a win! :D

Oh, I agree. I always tell doubters to hop on a treadmill beside me and see if I run like a smoker lol. And I tell them to bring their wallets too! No one ever takes that bet.

I'm two years smoke free as of 11\12. Ecigs are the greatest thing eva lol.

Really :)

Also coming in with a bill/invoice for the juice might work too. If they want to be real picky about it all grab a lawyer and have a company run a O2 blood test, break down chemicals for tobacco and/or a BGA. I'm sure there are tell tale differences between the nicotine that a BGA will pick up (BGA=Blood Gas Analysis).

I so know how you feel, Deathwitch. This site and forum is major info overload, though it is also wonderfully supportive. I am a newbie, as well. If fact, just received my kit yesterday. So I'll tell you what I ordered and why and let you take that for what it's worth.

I ordered the KR808D-1 starter kit. Actually one for my BFF and one for myself. I also ordered three bottles of 6mg e-liquid/juice.
I ordered the KR808D-1 because it seemed to me to be fairly easy and a good choice for someone to start out with. Also because it was inexpensive (from myvaporstore.com).
Having gotten them yesterday, I can confirm that they are, indeed easy to use and very satisfying. No analogs and no desire for one. So far. I understand I'm not very far into this...
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Don't quote me on it, only took a glance at the one you ordered and i was looking more at the specs than at the pic.

I got the ego-t. The 808 (if my bad memory serves) is a bit more like a cigarette in shape. Might be a little longer than a 100 tobacco cig and thickness wise it would be between a regular cig and a Camel Wide. Once again going on memory here, which has been known to fail. The ego-t model looks to be about as wide around as the top part of a bottle of wine.

This link might be good. Most likely has stuff you already know but it has been a good read (6 part article) for me so far.
