There's obviously a lot of discussion on whether vaping causes shortness of breath, but all seem to be about long term use and ongoing shortness of breath.

I recently picked up a bottle of 50mg nic salts and loaded up a tank. When I hit it, I get really short of breath, but just for a few moments.

Others familiar with that? Know the cause? Is it just too much nic at once?

It's a Kanger Subbox tank with an RBA coil, and battery from a Vaporesso Guardian One (vaporesso tank broke, and the glass isn't replaceable, which sucks because I loved that dang ceramic coil.)

Battery is not adjustable, so I don't know what it's putting out.

Prior to this I was primarily vaping Juuls, which I know are 59mg/ml...

What's the resistance of the RBA?

My friend, this is an internet forum; it is not a medical resource. The opinions you get on here are worth every penny you paid for them. You rely upon them at your own risk. They may stay at Holiday Inns but that does not make them qualified to answer your questions or to give you advice.

Shortness of breathe seems to me to be a tad above our area of competence.

I agree about giving 'medical' advice.
Many have a sensitivity to high Vg that causes all sorts of breathing difficulty symptoms, myself included.

In my opinion, asking basic questions like Pg/Vg ratio, power & resistance used etc. isn't playing interweb doctor.
But, when someone is asked and either doesn't know or refuses to answer simple basic questions it is all guess work.

Breathing is kinda important, one of those unwise to guess deals, if you have any concern that vaping may be a contributing factor or cause, stop.

I'm not really sure if "I just put 50mg in a subtank" is a medical question or above this forum's ability to answer.

"Don't put 50mg in a subtank" and "Juul ≠ subtank" seems to be much safer answers than "Keep on doing it for 2 - 12 weeks while you wait to see a Dr."

The reason those wimpy delivery systems use high nicotine strengths is because they're wimpy. That knowledge may not be a Dr's strong point. $20,000 worth of tests later and you still may not have an answer because they're not going to let you hit a 50mg subtank while they're testing to see what it's doing.

Not medical advice but 50 is too high for "subohming" in a kanger subtank. Your battery provides 40 watts of power. I use a toptank which is nearly the same and I vape at 3mg, 20 watts - used to use 6mg in that tank,

Nic salts come in higher concentrations so that might be causing the temporary shortness of breath with that setup but again - not medical advice.

Generally speaking, if you only notice it on that tank why not try a regular e juice in a concentration of 6mg or purchase a refillable system where you can use the 50mg nic since the pods are low wattage devices,

Also, as some mentioned it could be an ingredient in the flavoring but I think a sensitivity would last more than a few moments.

Here's a real easy-read blog about it,
Beginner's Guide to Vaping Nicotine Salt and here's the info on the Guardian
