I was in town today. Thought I would try to find all the supplies I needed to build a backup Zi Moshi myself. Got all the parts I needed except the copper to make the positive contact out of. I stopped at a local hardware store, asked a guy working there is he had something that would work. He got me some copper pipe hangers. Will work quite nicely. just straighten them and cut them.

I had paid for them and the worker asked what my Zi Moshi was. I explained how it worked. The owners wife was the one running the register. She told me that if she had heard what I wanted the copper for SHE WOULD NOT HAVE SOLD IT TO ME!! She said that if I wanted to kill myself she wanted no part of it!! She actually tried to give me my money back and make me give her the copper hangers back!!

I was very nice and explained I was making 6 Zi Moshi's so by selling me the copper pipe hangers, she was actually helping to kill 6 people not just 1.8-o I turned and walked out the front door.

You handled that situation very well! No sense in arguing, won't get you anywhere but wanting to smack someone.

The Zi Moshi is freakin' awesome - I can see why you want one - post a pic when you get it made!

Note: see new avatar - you have no idea what you started. Had to turn off PM for awhile.

Edit: I know, my fault too. Reminder to myself: never keep posting after my bedtime - lack of sleep takes me places I wouldn't normally be led to LOL!

Actually I already have a Zi Moshi. But with secondhand leaving the country, I need a backup! If he isnt there to help. Better safe than sorry.

OMG, I love your retort back to her! I wish I was that quick in thinking.

See, I have had quite the opposite response. My mother absolutely despises the smell my sisters have on them...because not only do they smoke, but they are not clean people...so they stink pretty good of smoking. So, when she visits me, I very purposely vape in my house...and she doesn't care at all. And no, she's not just being nice...she tells my sisters to their faces that she stinks. She has not once asked me to stop, never said I stink, never told me it was stupid....and she totally supports me for trying to convert people. And she is COMPLETELY anti-smoking.

Once again, I love how you told the lady what you did and then walked away...hilarious!

OK folks let me say this right up front. IF ANYONE THINKS MODS ARE OVERPRICED TRY TO BUILD ONE YOURSELF!!!!

Ok thanks to Maddog I got the guts out of the flashlights! That was the easiest part of my day!! And the only part that wasn't frustrating! Actually kinda fun beating the guts out of those little lights!

I worked for about an hour and a half soldering. Got the negative soldered to the connector. Got the center pin soldered to the positive. Resistor connected to the positive pin. Resistor connected to the led. Led connected to the negative terminal. Ok slip it in the Acrylic tube. Simple huh!! NOT!!! Go back and watch the video again..... OK Suppose to solder + to INSIDE OF CONNECTOR!!

Guess what if you hold the positive wire to positive end of battery and negative to negative end. You can vape away!! Guess tomorrow I strip it all apart and start again! You know what I just noticed. The message on this video says it is not a how-to video it just shows what goes into making a light vapor!! Funny secondhand didn't show how ...... he got when he made his FIRST lightvapor!

Wonder what he would charge to make 6 light vapors if I sent him all the materials??? NAH I will not give up. I will not give up. I will not give up. I will not give up.

This better work tomorrow or Ted may just receive a mysterious package stuffed with parts with no return address!!

Why mod? For more battery life, vapor or throat hit? There is usually alot less frustrating and less expensive way to get what you want.

Maybe less frustrating, but no less expensive way. If you can build a mod, it is certainly the least expensive way to get the most satisfying ecig experience - in all three areas you mentioned, actually.

Ok perhaps you are right but on most ecig models however I wouldnt want more of a throat hit, the smoke is a illusion to your mind and as for batteries just keep a extra one around.Perhaps I am missing something.

Do you still think I can handle making one?? NOT!! I think I will leave this up to you or wait for second to get back. Please post some pics when you get it done and have time.

Love the retort to the woman at the hardware store, it was absolutely perfect! :D

Rainman,
I am a over the road truck driver. Before I got my Zi Moshi, I would change batteries 5-6 times in a day!! When I got the Zi Moshi, I put fresh batteries in it first thing in the morning. The batteries last me the ENTIRE day. I have actually vaped with the batteries for 14 hours before they got to weak to power it. So for me the reason for a MOD is the battery life. The throat hit and extra vapor are only because of a 3 second hit, that a regular e-cig will give you, as long as you hold that button....... it pumps out the vapor. The longest I have actually hit the Zi Moshi is 45 seconds. It was tough but it was gonna keep pumping. I just couldn't do anymore.

Ok perhaps you are right but on most ecig models however I wouldnt want more of a throat hit, the smoke is a illusion to your mind and as for batteries just keep a extra one around.Perhaps I am missing something.

Actually mamacat I think you could handle making one. It actually isnt that tough. I just jumped ahead a bit when I soldered the wire on the outside. I was actually also using to large of wire.

I guess the thing that will help me get it built I guess is the fact I have one to look at.

I can also see where small improvements need made for strengthening it up a bit. I have already decided to make a few adjustments to secondhands style. Not taking a thing away from the Lightvapor but its things I wanted in one. Will probably send one completed to secondhand and see what he thinks.

MAryKay I don't think you have the right anatomy to be a better man than I?!?

As for getting it done today. The family is having a cookout and the wife decided to move a 4ft deep pool to another part of the yard!! Gotta love you women when you decide to move things!!

Will be working on the Zi Moshi when I get back out on the road.

Mouse..better yet take the guts back to the store you got the copper from.
You are a better man then I, well you'd have to be..lol. I wouldn't even try to do a mod. I hope you "get her done" tomorrow.

I will be very interested to see how it turns out. Do keep us posted on your progress.

Because of your encouragement, I might get brave enough and try it myself! 8-o You have already taught me so much about the vaping experience and for that I am truly grateful. :)

Be safe and enjoy your cookout. And remember, no matter how hard the lady of the house makes it on you - she will have you shining like a star! :D
