VFW Halls for a meetup?

Howdy Hoosier Vapers,

I was just thinking ahead about meets sometime in the dead of winter, and that a VFW Hall would be an awesome place for a meetup. Most of them (I think) are rentable, have a bar, and typically allow smoking (and thus vaping). Obviously renting a space like this is not free and would be better suited for a larger meetup.

I rented a VFW hall for my wedding reception and it was about $200. The catch was that I knew a VFW member at the time who got us that deal. I also don't know if you have to be, or know, a member to rent such a place.

That said, I'm fishing for 1) feedback on the VFW Hall idea, and 2) if anyone is or knows a member or what the rules are.

As more and more smoking/vaping bans go into effect (hopefully that slows down) we are going to need private club like spaces to have meetups.

This is off topic but I know the owner of a bar here in Terre Haute who would let us hold a vape meet. He is actually a member here on the forums. If you all would like to come down to Terre Haute for a day sometime let me know and I'll try to get him to become a member of the group if he isn't already.

We've just started talking about a meet in E-ville in October because a member has agreed to do the initial "legwork".

That's what is needed to get these meets going, someone to step forward and say, "I'll help out."

November, and December of this year are sitting wide open, we're just waiting for someone to step forward.... Is that you x GRE x?

Hey xGREx! That sounds GREAT!! I live in Carbon, and go to Terre Haute rather often! Would LOVE to have a meetup alittle closer to home! Can you help get something set up?

Just happened to think....didn't Terre Haute include vaping in their No Smoking law just recently? Don't want anyone to get into trouble...Anyone?

No vaping isn't part of the law here, in fact if you ever want to grab a bite to eat while up here stop in at TGI Friadys ( shameful plug for my employer ) we are vape friendly.

What leg work are you talking about Hoosier? Is it just as simple as getting the place booked, if its that give me the time and date and I'll have the place for you.

Basically, that's it. Mostly asking the site if vapers would be welcome if they would mind if we invaded their place on a Saturday. Sometimes the local person will post some flyers to hopefully draw in locals who aren't on social media. (That did work for the last one.)

cool I got the place for whatever day you want to set it up at after that I know a few vapers in town I can pass info to and have them spread the word.
