vg ejuice coughing/throat hit

I got my dad to start vaping. He complained of throat hit and coughing with pg juices from halo and v2. So I got him some all vg juice. He said it was better, less coughing... but he is still coughing and complains it still hurts his throat and points to it.. right here! Says he would rather a cigarette.. Haa

He is using 16ml nic. I diluted that down with a flavorless 0 nic. Said it improved but still getting it. I want him to keep vaping and not switch back to cigarettes. Any suggestions?

He is using a halo triton and also a ego vv with aspire k1 tank. Same complaint with both.

How much does he smoke (or did he smoke)?

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day:

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

May be wicking issues or just that your dad has to adapt a slightly different 'technique'. Just thinking out loud. Either way - kudos for helping your dad out

How does he vape? I find sucking the vape into my mouth then inhaling into the lungs easiest on my throat. I use an ego twist and usually can mouth to lung twice, exhaling through my nose while sucking second mouthful of vapor. That might help.

Try turning down the voltage. I don't know what ohm coil he's running but some juices just taste awful if I push the voltage up too much.

Last, try a different tank maybe. Top coils seem to be hotter and bottoms cooler. If you know how, maybe rewick the coil with something other than sillica. Great guy here on ECF sent me a kanger t3s recoiled at 1.9ohm and wicked with rayon and it is by FAR the smoothest vape I've had since starting about 3 months ago.
