I have been vaping since the end of February, last cig on 03/15. Mid April I started having some problems and found it was due to the PG. Because of the PG sensitivity I am trying to avoid it as much as possible. I believe I read in one of the threads that a VG/distilled water ratio of 5 to 1 was a good starting point. Does that sound right even though the only PG will be what if any is in the flavorings? All hints and guidance for VG only will be truly appreciated.

I haven't had any problems with VG clogging my atty or anything else so far. I use 510s and LR 510s.

I have heard that it doesn't wick as well and can cause the atty to get hot.

I thin mine sometimes, it only depends on how much flavoring I'm using. And when I thin, I tend to use everclear 151 (if the higher % was available in FL where I am, I'd use that)

But I only use a few drops of it and then basically tilt it and watch it run down the bottle to tell if it needs more. I first started tilting it and a bottle of supplier juice to compare, but I've gotten pretty good at eyeballing it lately.

Orion and Lab, Thanks so much for the info and hints. I just made some apple pie and if you were here I'd share it with you it is YUMMY. I also checked the density against some that wicks well and that helped. BTW have either of you tried PA's Cinnamon Red Hots? I adore the flavor but have had separation issues. I mean the various liquids are separating also the mixture turns somewhat cloudy.

Simple test to see if your VG cuts the mustard is to take a drop and place it on a flat mirror, at the same time place a drop of purchased PG juice beside it. Now stand up the mirror, if the VG runs slower than the PG juice add water and repeat test. If it runs faster then add more VG and retest. When they run the same speed note how much water vs VG you used for that brand of VG and your using and you are set.
Hope this helps.

Buy CVS Pure Glycerin USP online at CVS.com

It's USP grade, Sweet and Very thick. So I dillute it with a 4:1 ratio of VG to Distilled water. It produces tons of fog and is very inexpensive.

Following up on the assistance of you super folks................Yessssssssssssssssss
My last DIY's are all really good, my PV's are working well, my atties are becoming survivors rather than victims and me I happily have my head in the fog (of vape of course) Water was my missing ingredient...amazing.

Seriously you guys rock, the support and sharing of knowlege on ECF is nothing short of amazing, I am proud to be a part of ECFF e-cigarette-forum-family.

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to address this in case someone else stumbles across it.

The CVS brand above is not a good idea for vaping.

From MozDoc
In order to be considered "food grade" should be 99.7% pure and the remainder should be water.

The CVS ingredients page lists it as "Active Ingredient: Glycerin 99.5% Anhydrous", and Anhydrous means containing no water. This means the remaining .5% is neither glycerin or water.

You can also see that virtually every quality juice distributor that lists the purity of their VG state specifically that it is 99.7% pure.

Just food for thought. :)
