VG/PG - Does it matter for newbies?

I'm 99.9% sure I could find the answer to this in one of the FAQ threads, but since I need to get my 5 posts and I've got a follow up question, I figured I'd just ask here. I think I understand the different composition of PG vs. VG, but does picking which type to go with as a newbie matter, particularly as it pertains to a goal of wanting to quit analogs at some point soon? I have already posted for advice on one of my other concerns (finding a liquid or PV that doesn't leave me longing for that first cig smell…the one that's on your fingers shortly after smoking…I know that sounds weird - best I can describe it!), and have gotten some excellent advice there. I guess I'm just kind of wondering if VG or PV would be better i achieving that goal? I'm thinking - since so many people suggested it - that I'm gonna try Halo liquid, and maybe one other company. I'm figuring I should do the 24mg since I smoke about 1.5 packs per day. So all that's left is going PG or VG. (Note: I don't typically react at all to normal allergies, so I don't think the reactions some people seem to have will be a concern with the PG)

Thanks!

Matty

Just so you know, you don't have to start 5 different threads. Just repsonding to other posts 5 times will put you over the limit.
PG/VG is mostly a preference thing. I'd start with small bottles of different ratios, and see what you like best.
Don't buy a bunch of juice all at once. Experiment, and keep in mind that as your taste buds heal, stuff you liked before might be utter crap to you in a few weeks. So yea... sample, sample, sample. It might take a long time, but trying new things can be part of the fun.

I used to use 70/30 because that is all the local shop i went to had. I then tried a 50/50 and it was a world of difference. It didn't have the overwhelming flavor (as I like minty os sour candy flavors) and had the vapor I wanted too! Sort of the best of both worlds. This topic is a personal choice so trying different ratios would be the best way to find out what works for you. If there is a local shop in your neighborhood then go there and see if they may have some samples of different flavors at different ratios and sample away. This is the only true way to know. Good luck and HAPPY VAPING!

I am a mixer at a well known shop in Michigan. I can tell you this much, our juice is typically 70/30 mix, 70pg. We hae found this the best because it works with most tank systems, the other big reason for starters...newbys...is that PG is the vehicle for carrying the nicotine and flavor. Guys version of understanding how it works, imagine PG being a pick up truck, to you want a short bed or a long bed to cary your nic? that being said, a lot of people move to other blends for a smoother hit, ie 50/50, 20/80, the trade off is bigger clouds, smoother hit but, in my experience, the throat hit and flavor diminishes. Ultimately, you can get all the information and opinions from tons of people, it all comes down to what works for you.

Sure it matters to a new vaper, but you are going to have to try several blends to discover what you like, and what you absolutely cannot tolerate. Personally, I usually deal with vendors that are willing to custom blend. If they won't even state the base mixture, I won't even bother with a free sample. That's just me, of course.

i started using 100% vg on a protank 2 and found that the flavors were muted, fault of the protank. I then moved onto an RDA and used the flavor i had and found it was better.

went to get another bottle of juice, but they didn't have 100% vg so i got 50/50 blend and found that it was a good balance of flavor and vapor

this is my personal preference though

I was a pack and a half a day give or take. gave up analogs in November and have not looked back. To keep with the topic all depends on you. I started with 70-30 blend 24mg local shop juice but moved to a 12mg and a higher VG blend. After years of smoking my taste buds are not strong. Flavor is my addiction. I am on a quest for my HOLY GRAIL of E-Juices.

That's my mission too. If you find them, PM me and let me know. I'm always trying new flavors from different places.

I started on the 70/30 stuff, and in the process of trying to be able to make those big youtube clouds, have landed at around 40/60, which is as high of a VG percentage as I can get using PG based nic and flavor.

The state of my body has changed through that journey in such a way that I have become sensitive to PG now. What allowed me to break free of cigarettes, is now what I'm breaking away from, using higher VG ratios.

Currently I am shifting to lower flavouring ratios, while still retaining a satisfying vape.

50/50 is a good START.

You can adjust from there; if you want stronger taste, get more pg; if you want from fog, get more vg.

For nicotine strength, I recommend having at least 2 tanks, 1 with a higher strength, and your main vape with a lower strength.
You will likely find yourself vaping more than you used to smoke.
