I'm not sure what the question is here?

I will take a shot at it, I guess. Vegetable Glycerin, or VG, is hygroscopic, and will absorb water from the air itself. If left unattended, and without protection, the VG will indeed absorb water from the air, thus making it 'mushy', or less viscous.

I don't know if that answers the question, or even what the question was.

I think the OP was saying it was more viscous, not less...might be wrong here. VG is far more viscous when cold than warm, and it will be harder to squeeze it out of a bottle. I have not experienced anything I would call "mushy" however, which to me implies a granular texture. Sometimes I will use a large needle and bore the hole out more to alleviate this. Some bottles have holes too small for VG juices.
