..... confessions of a newb  (I hope this gives you all a good laugh)

Last year I tried my first e-cig, a disposable, not sure what brand, and I liked it. It got me thinking of quitting again but past experience has taught me that it's darn hard if the hubster won't quit too, so I put it out of my mind. Well, last week the subject came up and he wants to try switching - Whhoo Hooo! So, I started reading here, like a mad fiend, and ordered an Ego 510T starter kit. It isn't here yet but should be on Monday.

So I keep reading and watching YouTube and decide that Ego C would probably be a better fit so I ordered 2 1100mAh starter kits. Reading some more and waiting, waiting, waiting, I placed a couple of orders for juices and flavours ...... and then a bunch of DIY stuff. Then my first order arrived - just juice and flavours, that all smell wonderful.

So a couple of days passed and I keep waiting and reading and was very taken with the EGO Twist 1000mAh ..... in white ..... and pink ... for me, and black for hubs, and more chargers. Then came the Vivi Riva Mini reviews and a pretty lotus drip tip ...... a SmokeTech 900mAh in leopard, and a camo case for hub.

I kept waiting and reading and watching and I now know how to disassemble and reassemble an atty, rethread and recoil, dry burn, prime and clean, clean, clean. I have a couple of juice calculators on my phone and iPad, a good stock of PG and VG and 36mg and 96mg nic liq. I've looked at dozens of Canadian vendors and picked my top 3, calculated the best price/ml for nic, and planned out my storage :p

Things should start rolling in on Monday thru Wednesday and it promises to be an interesting week. I don't think I'm missing too much, this site has been more than amazing, but I hope y'all will let me know if I am - please!

Only 2 more sleeps ..... but I think I want a Provari - hmmmmm. Any thoughts, commiserations?

PS - YouTube has been invaluable of course, but have you seen that vapetrader? He's just yummy - in that iconic Fred Flintstone sort of way:ohmy:

Welcome Snapdragon. I thought I was bad with all my reading and ordering  I really like my eGo twists - but when I saw the purple spinner - and the purple Kanger MT3 - I had to order one of those too. I just put myself on an ordering restriction for the rest of this month - trying to not spend more than I did smoking

I just added a lot of flavors and have started with the DIY juice and it is a lot of fun. Sure hope you can hold off ordering anymore before you actually get started - but if not well - sounds like you are commited to giving this a good try :)

Haha you don't seem to be a "newb" anymore :p! This forum and its community indeed has been great in increasing my knowledge of the ecig world too!!

My take on Provari? I found that I am more of the type that want's the perfect vape hit along with the ease of use. I don't really care much for aesthetics (at the moment lol) and focus more on functionality. Saying that, I am in love with my VAMO. It is a both a VV and VW, takes 3 battery configurations, and the menu to operate the device is beyond simple and efficient. To top it off, the stainless steel VAMO can be had for about $50.

Having said this, I will make the obligatory acknowledgment that nothing beats the well built quality of the Provari, spot on performance as advertised, and the support/warranty it comes with.

Good point!

I think I'm done for a bit. I may have gone a little OTT but it is for 2 of us and it will give us a chance to do some good comparisons to see what we really like. I've read that people run out of things too soon or were a little disillusioned with their first choice so I'm thinking I've avoided that. I'm sure the courier is going to "drop and run" after the first SQUEEEEE!:p

I just KNEW I wasn't the only one who could get just a little carried away with all this. Y'all are making me feel much better. This seems like the best of both worlds when it comes to quitting and I really want to give it my best shot.

I'm encourged by all the "days quit" and "money saved" and appreciate that people share that.

I know I've just scratched the surface and have only chosen the "trendy" stuff so far, but the more I read ........ the more I'm learning about some pretty interesting options that are much more function over form.

That said - I stumbled across and ETSY vendor who is selling charms for e-cigs. Rubber O rings with dangling pretties that decorate your rig. Haha, I resisted .... for now :2cool:

lol when people ask me if I end up saving money by switching to vaping, I just hesitantly smile off the question. On paper, it does seem like vapers can save money, but if your anything like me, I goooootta have or at least try the new vaping items that pop up lol.

It's pretty cool that there is so many options available. I'm afraid vaping is not just an alternative to smoking, but also has become my hobby as of late =)

Wow! Wish I could've started with all those options. I have to agree with middleborn though, you might be jumping in a bit fast. No doubt I want a pretty extensive collection myself one day, but it just might be best to find out what works for you first before ordering a million parts you'll never use more than once unless your aim is to be a collector.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear such enthusiasm and welcome you to the world of vaping and ECF.

Oh, and I've heard all good things about ProVari and love my own VV device, but there are many other options that cost a lot less. I think ProVari is geared towards aficianados so to speak. That's by no means meant to be discouraging or say anything bad at all about ProVari. It's just my :2c: before diving in too deep to take some time to make a decision on a VV device and spending that kind of money on a PV.

Don't feel too bad! We all get carried away! I got started in December & I had 6 different egos on order...twists, ego t's & tons of juice & it was just for me! It was a good thing I did. None of my batteries have dies but some of the juice I didn't like at first so I just let it sit...& trust me I ordered tons. I purchased a vv/vw mod & some of those juices are now amazing on my new device. Next thing on the list is a Provari. I can finally order it at the end of the week! Can't wait to click BUY!! I'm already planning ahead cause I know I'll want a mini! Welcome to the club!!

Word for the wise- just because a number of people like something, doesn't mean you will. I let temptation lead me into buying a number of vaping accessories that I didn't like- for instance, I found out I prefer the vape of an original joyetech tank- nor cartos or stardusts/vivinovas. This knowledge came thankfully BEFoRE wasting my money on a variable voltage, which is pointless if you're like me and prefer the proprietary tank vape! Welcome!

It is very easy to get carried away! I figure as long as I'm not smoking and my family still has a roof over our heads...lol..than it's ok to enjoy this latest obsession. If I'm obsessing over my vapes...I'm not smoking!

My goal right now is not to save money by switching to vapes but to save my health. Eventually I'll get to the point where the lion is tamed and it will be cost effective too. Congrats and good luck to both of you.

Wow! Lots of great replies!

Haktuspit - just stop! You're making me blush!!

DJ RyckRak - thank you so much for reminding me of my fiscal responsibilities, I just luv that! Fortunately 90% has been e-Transfer. I'm not a big fan of spending what I don't have ........... thank goodness! Shhhh, I'm already a little over a K. Happy CAKE DAY in advance!!!!

mpower8 - it so is a hobby! Especially if you get into diy and/or mods.

Intelligent Designer - I'm hoping between the 2 of us, most of this will get used up. I justified some as good to have as back up. I guess I could look for the disposables locally for a 'just in case' but so far I haven't seen any. Good advice about the Provari. I promise to look at options before I buy the beautiful pink Provari Mini ... ONCE I know what I'm doing of course .. haha

Chimney34 - Now you really do have to stop! I am soooooo jealous!! If you have time would you please PM me when it gets there so I can share a little in your joy??? BTW - what colour?

Bobby Martin - the voice of reason. Thank you!

toomnyhats - exactly! Quitting now, lions later .... maybe ..... hahaha
