Well, I also have the dreaded liver and onions story so I'll go on to the one that was the most traumatic. My mom was a big fan of casseroles or hot dishes. She made one once that had something I couldn't identify in it so I didn't want to eat. It turns out it was canned mushrooms....over cooked! Well, to a kid, rubbery mystery mushrooms were just awful. I remember to this day how she made me sit at the table until I ate it. What's even worse, she made my poor dad sit there with me to make sure I did eat it. Well, he finally said real quietly, "Debbie, I'll give you a quarter if you take one bite". So I held my nose and took one bite, barely keeping it down!! Then my dad, God bless his heart, made the rest of the food, which was very cold by this time, disappear and covered for me with my mom!! I will never forget sitting at that table in pure misery staring at that plate of gray mushy food!! After that I promised myself I would never make my kids sit at a table until their plate was clean, and I never did!! Thanks for the contest...and the trip down memory lane!! purple is my favorite color and it's really pretty!!
