Hi folks.

I started vaping 3 weeks ago on a standard ego-c setup with seperate atomisers and cartridges. Anyway, I'm not dabbling with other juice delivery systems. Tried the Kanger T3 which was just an truly awful experience with gurgling, juice in my mouth, and a terrible taste to the juice.

Anyway, I bought myself a vision V3 rebuildable clearo after a few recommendations. On the day it arrived I soaked it for a few hours in hot water and then filled it with juice, however I got a nasty plastic aftertaste on the exhale. This continued with various juices. What I did like was a nice warm vape, with decent throat hit etc. so I kept with it, soaked it again, then filled it and left it sitting on its side for a day, and it seems to be tasting much better now. I've yet to try other juices again to see if the improvement remains. unfortunately I've had to send it back as the tank does not screw onto the atomiser base properly so am getting a replacement.

Basically my question is about that nasty plastic taste. Am I right in assuming that these clearos just can't be used straight from the box and instead need some time to properly bed in before you can get a good vape with full flavour and no nasty aftertaste??? If that is the case and I am getting a replacement, then I guess I'll have to go through the whole routine again before I can enjoy it? Just seems like a lot of hassle.

Thank you for the Vodka method and suggesting a soaking in general. I'm new to quality vaping (just switched from the 7-Eleven Logic E-cig yesterday when I received my Ego-C Twist with cartridges and a DCT Vivi Nova K1 from Electronic Cigarette | E Cig Liquid | Totally Wicked E Cigs) and the VN tasted amazing with my favorite e-liquid in it, which I was using to refill the logic cartos for awhile. At first, I just put enough juice in to soak the wicks and give it a taste. I loved it, so I filled it up to the 2.8ml max. I took a few more drags and it still tasted great! Then, I put it down on my dresser on its side, not hooked up to my battery, and when I came back an hour later half of my fluid had leaked out. On top of that, I tried several times over the course of 5 hours to get a hit that tasted good off of it but all I tasted was burnt crap, and it left my throat irritated.
I've browsed other posts about Vivi Novas and these 2 problems seem to be common, the burnt taste, and the leakage from the top because the post becomes easily unseated, but none of the posts indicate that the leakage may have caused the burnt taste. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

I have been using the Vision V3 for almost a year now. My bad but I have never soaked them at all before use. Just dump the juice in and go. I don't remember ever getting a bad taste out of them at the start. I use them a lot and clean them once a week. After a week's use they do start tasting a little funky. I have been using the same coil and wick for over 3 months now. Some juices can be harsh on a plastic tank. You mentioned that your tank is not screwing on correctly? One of the flaws of the V3 is that sometimes it gets out of wack in the "press fitted metal sleeve on the bottom. When you screw it to the base, it goes on crooked. Usually, you can press it between your thumb and forefinger and pop it back into place. Just a thought......;-)~
