Oi.. I get it, thanks. Dunno' his techniques, but if I ever see a linkage, I'll follow.

Usually, I use the needle/wire-guide+wick+nichrome schtick. I need to headuptown today In Search Of... a decent bolt or two and some more K&S stock - Tubing to replace the "standpipe" of a clearo or two.. Since I am waiting on electronics parts to arrive, I might as well see what I can do to mod a clearo or three down for the count.

oh! And, hey! I can stop by Mickey-D's for a straw or two! ;-)

Hey, that said... Anyone know where to locate the sort of very thin - coated,transparent - wire such as used in the CE6 and E1-v2 standpipes for the positive lines? Or a link to some reliable firm that sells a spool?

anyone have any tricks to make a good U wick from SS without kinks, besides just rolling on the bias? I always muck it up

Yeah, I'm not too keen on JB Weld. My cinnamon liquid literally ate through it after I used it to seal the posts in a Genesis Mini. I had JB Weld floating around in my tank on the third day. Silicon worked on it and is holding up, but I'm just not too sure on it having to endure the heat output of a coil in the nova...

What "silicon"? I've got nice 5yr, 100% silicon caulk - white and clear - details! detail! ;-)

This is what I use, found it at my local Ace Hardware for $6. It's food safe once it's completely cured.

Hmm.. I know I've read that tut before, since the overwick idea was tried.

I have to say: I found cotton twine easier than screwing with batten/balls. I find the cotton just loves to snag all over my hands/fingers, otherwise. I do need to get a small supply of the ebay "organic" wicking - gods know 10' of wick is a ton, (particularly since I am usually trying cotton but once per, and then switch to SS where ever I can).

I should try that bias-rolling idea. Need a better way to search for these Ideas thru the forums, darn it.

Just a thought, Anything that can eat through JB Weld,, I don't want in my lungs. they had enough damage from ciggs.

I think the ECF has issues - "Just Stainless Steel..." is an example: as far as I can tell, due to the age, all the photo's are gone - so at least 50% of it can't be "followed".

That's exactly what I was going to say. There's a bunch of stuff that's not good for you, but I figure even it being cinnamon, it's still less harmful as smokes, so that's how I justify it

I've tried and made 150+ different flavors and cinnamon at 10% is the only thing that will satisfy me on a day-to-day basis, and it's all I vaped for 8 months now

Yeah, I 86'd my various burnholes in clothes and furniture; the place doesn't stink, the floor lacks burns; I stopped hacking-up a lung in the morning, etc.. Oh, and hey: dentists won't whine anymore about the staining! ;->

So I finally got all my supplies to recoil/rewick my vivi novas and they're hitting like a champ, $2.50 for half a yard of 100% unbleached cotton (muslin? I think...) from a local fabrics store and some 36 AWG nichrome from madvapes (was already placing an order so figured why not). The cotton I got will surely last me well over a year, probably closer to 5! It's a little tedious pulling the threading apart but lets me adjust exactly how thick my wicks are. Using 15 threads atm and no leaking issues, probably gonna try 20 on another head to see if it wicks better (I make my own juice so there's different ratios of PG/VG). First attempt I actually ended up squeezing the coils together fitting it back inside and that led to choking and burning of the wick, so heads up to anyone new to this make sure your wicks have breathing room but still nice contact when saturated. Getting about 3.0-3.5 ohms with 5 wraps, gonna give the doubled up legs another shot a little later although I don't taste any burning rubber I do see minor scorch marks on some of the heads. Any news on the insulators from avid vaper working as a replacement?

The little tubes? I been avoiding starting Yet Another Account with them, and hoping we can get the price down. Or the postage down - those are expensive for me to order. They'd work just like the ones I steal from broken clearo and other connectors.

Basically, you need to do the Doubled-Leg Trick or the NR wire with twist-magic or those jewlery-beads, (I plan to get those last two in the next couple days).

Well, it looks like SS mesh - dunno the size you ordered or shot, there.. I know how I slammed mine together, but I hesitate to explain it all here when others do much neater jobsand have done so longer. If you don't find the clues or get the advice herein right-quick, I can try to walk you thru what I did. Puck-puffin' the lil' devil right now ;-)

I had to fray the ends after the first tank, however, and I prolly should have used two wicks - once it burned thru, I just slapped in some SS and tossed the condom on the gathered parts for atty/clearo/tank rebuilding. (it's becoming a mess)

Gee, that sounds so encouraging! So I should double the wick material and fray it? (It already looks pretty prone to self-fraying....)

I've been wondering about having 1.5 wicks with the top .5 just sitting on top of the coils, held down by the little cap, like the "extra" wick everybody keeps asking about...why not use the heat at the top of the coils in an upward direction to touch more wick?
