Some people like short wicks as there is a belief that the long wicks separate the juice because different ingredients wick at different speeds. I dont see it myself.
there is no problem pulling out pieces or cutting your wicks, if you make them shorter the only thing you would have to do is remember to tip the tank to its side to keep them wet (called tip and roll - catchy huh?)

some clearos and tanks even come with short wicks.

I think it would defeat the purpose of the second generation vivi novas
I rewick with cotton now, I like that I can chain vape with no dry hits

I did trim one didn't notice any difference. So I have left the other 3 novas alone. I plan on rebuilding with SS mesh whenever my supplies come in though. I don't mind the tip and roll and I'm going to experiment with short SS mesh too just so it touches the walls. So I don't have to Bend the mesh downwards see how it works. Also experimenting with bamboo wicks as well

Do you not fill them all the way? I haven't had that problem with favors kicking in with long wicks but I fill to just under white cap every time though. I could see the problem not wanting to fill full with testing new DIY flavors tough.
I don't generally trim the wicks except when I want to test new DIY flavors. My wife likes the wicks trimmed so she doesn't have to wait for a new flavor to kick in. :)

I make 1ml batches generally to test new flavors. No sense in wasting my base non-flavored fluid. Once I have the taste I like, then I make larger batches and fill completely. a short wick allow almost immediate taste tests :)

I find that you have to tip no matter what. I don't think the wick size make a difference for me.

That was my experience as well as I tend to chain vape. The taste will fade pretty fast with short wicks has been my experience. Constant rolling has become a habit of mine. I rarely notice I'm doing it.

I don't trim the stock silica wicks, but I do unravel them and it seems to wick better. That said, I find the stock coil to be too tight to wick as well as a rebuilt coil wrapped loosely with cheesecloth.
Do pieces of wick not start breaking off quicker after you unravel? I've experimented with this a few times, and it cuts the viable time I can get out of a new head down to like 5 or 6 days, tops. But it did wick better, so I'd love to know if I was doing something wrong.
