The video I posted said how big the piece of mesh he was using was. Yes I have seen that video of Scubatadan and the one where he makes the u-shaped wick on Stormy's Vapor Cellar website. That is a good one too. With a combination of the three anyone should really be able to roll their own wick lol! It took me some time to get the roll down right, but once I did I didn't look back! It's truly a whole other world of vaping!

Stupid question but can I use an old v1 head on the 2.5? Was wondering if it was worth rebuilding.

It should work fine. I've got several different versions of the changeable head products of this particular style, and they all seem to interchange. At worst, the fit may be like 0.015 inch different.

I think I might have to have a go at this SS wick.

It is worth the little bit of effort! If you can get through the learning curve of the SS mesh you won't regret it. I am having the same experience as Munch. The more I use the better it gets. I have put about 9 tanks through so far, and there is no sign of it slowing down. Like I said, it just keeps getting better for me. I really love my Vivi Nova tanks now!!!

Here is another silly question..

I want to join you guys in the SS mesh experience. Do I really need a torch to oxidize the mesh or would a good old bic do the trick?

Ha. I asked this question before too. It just seemed a little over-the-top to be using a torch. You might be able to do it with a lighter but you are much better off with a torch because the goal of the torch is to oxidize the mesh to create a nice thick layer of carbon to prevent the wire from shorting out on the SS wick.

I haven't messed with any SS mesh wicks yet so I am not talking from experience; rather, from what I have been able to piece together from what I have read. I could be completely wrong. Hopefully, someone will correct me if I am.

I use a gas stove burner but many do it with a Bic lighter.

Im failing!! Im using braided cotton wick, 32awg kanthal. 3.7 unregulated device. I took my old head apart and noticed the rubber grommnet is yellow (instead of white) and has a torch mark on the negative side. anyway i built a new coil with a double leg wrap on the negative side and four turns around the wick. put it together after soaking the wick and noticed two things 1. the wick is crackling and vaping but its not turning red! and it taste like old gym sock. any help here guys? I need it. thanks

Red is bad, you never want it to turn red, especially with cotton, it will burn the cotton. All new cotton wicks taste like an old sock, after about 3ml it goes away.
