Hey guys been following the other Nova threads, but I can't post being a supplier. I got two of these a couple of days ago, and wanted to join in on the discussions :( but can't.

I tried them out and got the same results as alot of people have. I recoiled them and used a lot thicker single wick, and these things vape like a beast hehe. I just wanted to join in on the tweaking, and see if we can't help each other out.

One thing I've noticed, is the coils are wound too tight, and the wicks are too tight and constricted. It seems to me the fibers are so compressed that its choking the flavor in the standard configuration.

When I recoiled one, I made sure the coil was fairly loose, but not too loose. After I got it all back together, I took a needle, and poked all into the wick area that is inside the coil. This seemed to spread the fibers apart alot better, and created more voids for the flavor to get through. I do the needle thing on every tank change to keep the fibers separated and to break up and burnt deposits in the wick.

Alot of what was causing me trouble was tight wicks, that grabbed everything and turned the wick almost solid inside the coil. After this happens, the coil just bakes the burned crud, and a bit of juice past the edges of the coil, which gives off the nasty taste. When the crud builds up on the wick, is when the flavor drops off for me, and it needs the poke with a needle routine. So far with keeping the wick really loose, and keeping the fibers opened up, these things are vaping awesome.

I've been doing the standard 4 wound coil, and getting on average 2.etc to around 3ohms. I don't dry burn on the first run, seems to build up crud for me, I break them in at 3.7, and can get to around 4ohms. If I go any higher, they seem to burn on me. I just wanted to share and see if I can help others out.

If you have any great tips, feel free to add any and all :) I think with a recoil, and a wick change to as big as will fit in the cup slots, these things rock. :)

Mjones,

Thanks for the tip. I just got mine in yesterday, and before I filled it up started watching utube videos for any tips and/or tweaks. I do have to say that right of the back this tank is awesome! I have used about everything, regular tanks w/ duel and single coil cartons, fluxomizers, CE3, etc. and out of all of them the the standard tank set up worked best. Except that the flavor after about 1-3 days the flavor and performance dwindles down.

Without any tweaking I poured in some 80/20 Highbrow butter rum let in soak for about 30 min and vaped away. The flavor stood out on every hit..but the vapor is a little cool, however that does not bother me as much as not being able to taste the juice. I watched a video where it was recommended to remove the 4th wick as it covers the coil. But have not tried it yet.

As far as the flavor goes, I will follow up in about a day or two on the performance and taste. This may be my favorite tank yet, so far no burnt taste NAND just like you I am breaking it in, before I move up the voltage.

Yeah, I'm loving these tanks. They seem to really shine, with a large single wick. Like you I've been a big ce2 style fan since they came out, these things blow away the old ce2's I've been using. This is the first one i can lay on its side, with no leaks.

Yeah, I never had good luck with the original coils. I rebuilt mine, and had better luck. If you come up with any good tips, let us know. I have had some burning, of the rubber/silicon washer. I changed out one from another carto, and it seemed to burn also. Hope you have good luck with yours, when it comes in.

First let me say I think it great people have figured out ways to make this tank work like it should have out of the box, however, I am one who does not really have any desire to rebuild a coil in order to make the thing work. I really really wanted this thing to work, I tried every coil that came with it plus 3 coils I was given on top of my order. NONE OF THEM PRODUCED FLAVOR. lots of vapor but no flavor. I bought 3 more from got vapes because they had"official" heads. all of those were garbage as well. again tons of vapor, no flavor. I just dont get why some have such good experience out of the box and some do not. Im sorry to hijack the thread, Im just very disappointed in the product. and needed to vent. My suggestion to anyone looking at the ViVi Nova would be to watch the videos, read the threads but be prepared to rebuild the coils!!!! Dont expect it to work correctly out of the box!

Mine was spot on fresh out of the box and that was from got vapes. I did let it sit for an hour and put one drop on the coil to "prime the pump". Right now I'm vaping a cinnamon berry mix on a lava tube at 4.2 and I really can't ask for more. I have tried just about everything (three plus years of vaping) and this is as close to dripping as I have found flavor wise, no leaks, just about perfect for me. I still drip when I use my "don" though.

Did you try small cotton wick over the original wick, this really improved my originals before going to full cotton.

Thats exacty what I mean, Many reports of bliss out of the box, just as many, tinkering is required. I let mine sit overnight after having 5 failures. and dripped a drop just before vaping, still zero flavor,My poly filled cart just works, tastes the same everytime. Now I know taste is subjective, but I know what my juice should taste like, peach 18mg from v4l. When I use the ViVi the only way I get a slight taste is to tip it almost horizontal. I do appreciate the tips and tricks, Ive just kind of resolved that its just not for me. Like I said I wanted it to work, But ive wasted enough time not to mention juice tinkering around. Maybe I expected to much, but I much prefer my poly fill cart, I know i will get the same results every time I use it and wont have to stop to modify the thing. I just cant get excited about a product that may or may not work depending on what alterations I did or didnt make.. Thanks guys, I didnt mean to spoil the party, just adding my experiences poor as they may be.

venimous Im pretty sure you have to continually swirl your tank. If I don't it will give burnt hits after awhile. im using 4 volts and not having a lack of flavor like you.

I have used all the tips and tricks I have found, swirling the tank, cutting the wicks, etc,,etc,,etc,,
I even bought the "official" heads from got vapes after the first 5 were producing no flavor. I read through almost 200 pages of the vivi nova 2.5 now in stock at the got vapes sub forum, Believe me I have tried all the things that were suggested, there and on taste your juice .com, I even contacted Phil after watching his review to seek guidance. I appreciate all the suggestions, but Im out of heads and really just out of patience. I wasted half a bottle of juice playing around with these things. I just wanted to add my experiences, not to be mean, but I didnt post to seek help, Ive been down the road and im doing a u turn right back to my poly filled cartos.
Its frustrating because lots of people are singing the praises of these things and Im just not getting any love from em. Its like watching your best freind make out with the girl you like, Im really jealous, but not willing to do anything about it.........anymore.
Ive tried, Ive failed........ I QUIT.

Surprises me when I come out of veterans threads and modding threads and read these problems, when most of the experienced vapers at this for many years and have thousands of dollars in just about every device out there have found the vivi nova an excellent device especially with an over wick. The only thing that gives little more flavor is dripping with Bonuts or a SS genesis wick setup. Flavor and TH are controled by voltage, Visible vaper is one thing and flavor is usually invisible vaper and can have a different ideal vaper temperature than PG or VG.

While I am new to the forums as a registered user, I've been vaping for about 2 years. Inexperience is definetly not the issue.
The issue is people have varying experiences with the same product. Some love it out of the box. Some people have
To make adjustments. Rebuilding the coil adding or changeing the wick. All I'm saying is I gave these a second shot because got vape said they had the cure in the new batch. Now some people have had great results. Yet others need to modify. If I was told when I bought these that if I wanted the best results I should expect to have to rebuild or tinker I would have passed them by. That's all I'm saying. Yes, they can be modded. For some that's a plus. This tank system has a lot of potential for modding. But I just wanted it to work out of the box.

First off, I agree with you. This stuff should work straight out of the box.

So here is the issue:

"If I was told when I bought these that if I wanted the best results I should expect to have to rebuild or tinker I would have passed them by."

Not to bash Gotvapes, but your reliance on someone who is looking to selling something, vs the veteran modders who share their experiences for free is misplaced. I believe that in general most actual user experiences with this device would lead you to the conclusion that:

Stock Vivi Nova = POS.

BJ43's overwick technique is easier than opening the package that the Vivi comes in.... its almost alchemy...POS to gold..okay more like silver with stock wicks. So for less than 1/2 penny of cotton and 15 seconds of your time....booya!

In my opinion this thread is for people who may be having problems and want to resolve them with the aid of those that have had success, If you are convinced you can't get it to work, go post a review in the review thread for vivi novas and let us go on with trying to help.

This maybe a thread for people who want to resolve their issues, however,I really don't see an issue with posting my results having tried to resolve my issue and was unable. Who made you this threads police? Jeesh.
As to having misplaced my trust that's the furthest from the truth. My reference to being told I would have to mod had more to do with reading threads from users singing the praises of the new version. Than from the actual vendors. I just think all the "fanboy" reviews are unfair, that's how I got sucked in. What's this forum for other than the free exchange of ideas and experiences...
