Hello folks, I joined a while ago when i picked up some cheap M-40* (something cheap and chinese)... that i wasnt very impressed with.

I recently decided to give vaping another shot and picked up a Vapor King 510(essentially, from what i can tell, a Joye 510 manual) from electronic cigarettes inc. It worked great for a day or 2, but then the familiar "burnt fiberglass" taste and smell that turned me off from the cheap ones came back quickly. ive read through the recent "intro to vaping" threads and "510 specific" area, but the only answer im coming up with is that the atomizer is shot.. already!? im now aware of how quickly they need to be replaced (probably never would have got into this if i knew how much maintenence these things require, but in for a penny, in for a pound.)

ive blown out the atty, and changed the cart, but even when sucking on it without the button depressed the burnt taste is still there (in the atty), although not nearly as bad and the "pull" is better as well.... but im not sure how much of that is due to simply changing the cart... my device came with 5 carts and im already on my 3rd one in 2 days(changing because of the nasty burn. not necessarily low vapor)... im not that heavy of a smoker (maybe 5-7 a day-- although i was once a 3 pack a day smoker-- dont ask why i started again after a year, i cant explain it, LOL) and im concerned that.. i guess that im not doing something right, if a medium cart is supposed to be equivalent to a pack, and the atomizer appears to be dying?? its not like im sitting around all day vaping; i just hit it occasionally to relieve some stress and squash a craving.

i guess what im asking here is
a) is the burning taste just a part of vaping? if so ill have to go back to nicotine gum or something, because its just awful.
b) if the burning taste/smell is the atty, is there any way to keep it at bay? should i just pick up a couple extras?
c)can i refill these "pre-filled" carts that came with the device? i cant afford to be going thru carts at this rate, and i see tons of posts about liquid and refilling... but do i need new filler totally or can i reuse the same stuff? and whats this i hear about tea bags?

essentially, i confuse. LOL. but i would like to try some different liquids and stuff before giving up on this due to the burning taste...

Iis the burning taste just a part of vaping? The burning taste comes when the liquid is low. You need to drip onto the atomizer or top off the cartridges. Pick up some atomizers, but I don't think your atomizers are dead. You can refill the cartridges many times. Wash out the filling once in a while and let it dry before refilling. I just bought some wool nubs on EBAY....eBay Store: Search results for Wistyria Needle Felting. great filler material that cost me less than $5 and will last for a very long time. I think the wool is much easier to use than the tea bags, and it works great. Buying pre-filled cartridges is a waste for the 510 because it uses up juice much faster than other models. Buy some juice at any of the places reviewed here. Most people like Nhaler I am put off by the $10 shipping charge there; nevertheless, he gets rave reviews. Just find a flavor that sounds good and try it out. Refilling can be annoying, but it is extremely simple.

I have a 510 and I only get the burnt taste when my juice gets low. Just top off the cartridge. I haven't used pre-filled carts since I had my OMG Smoke Free (I think it's a 401). Anyhow, you definitely need to get refill liquid and stop using the pre-filleds.

Drew ( Nhaler ) does charge $10 for shipping, but his equipment is cheaper than other USA sites (for example, attys are only $8 for the 520 compared to $9-$11 from other vendors), his liquid is superior and custom flavors are made in the USA and his price per ml is cheaper for the liquids. Order over $100 and shipping is free. Use the coupon code (saveinnj) and get 10% off any size order. The $10 shipping (IMO) prevents people from making multiple small orders that are expensive to ship & would cause him to have to raise prices of the actual merchandise.

Compare apples to apples (total orders) and you'll see your end cost is equal to or less than other vendors. He also throws in freebies.

I just compared two orders between him and another vendor with free shipping. For $102 from him and $103 from the other vendor, I could get 3 more attys and his superior liquid. It's a $30 difference if I wanted to add 3 more attys from the other guy.

1- The Joye 510 is not the VK

2-..........your problem is your not using a Lypton Pyramid Teabag- search PTB filler....

the PTB is a mesh that dosen't unravel fibres to be drawn to and burned on the atty.

Anyone having burned taste issue is not using PTB

ok, what the heck is this thing then, (add www)
electroniccigarettesinc.com/shopping/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=1
because thats what i bought... cant seem to tell a difference between this and a Joye 510? will 510 atomizers work with it? its called the Vapor King 510, so i kind of assume 510 part would work?

sounds like ill have to pick up a couple extra atomizers and some liquid if i want to be serious about this... ill look into the teabag thing...

ok, after some experimenting ive decided that the carts seem to be at fault here... i had some Johnson Creek M-401 carts that i had purchased (left over from my cheap chinese M-401 style)... i removed the filling from the carts that came with this 510 and replaced it with the filling from the JC carts... massive improvement immediately. no more burnt fiberglass.. so it looks like im going to be buying some liquid soon... and probably some extra attys and batteries too!

thanks for the help folks. (BTW, rockymountainvapor seem to be completely out of stock on 510's) after i pay down my credit card a bit ill be picking up the nhaler kit.

Do look at the cart mod forums, real interesting stuff! I'm going to try the blue fish aqaurium filter pads because of all the rave reviews. Don't give up, keep reading this forum and asking questions, you'll be so happy you did! Never thought i would quit analogs, but going on my fourth day without 'em and i feel GREAT!
