You don't fix. You exchange under the warranty... why would you continue to use a defective unit? A newbie would know to return the defective $100 item...

You got rid of all of your mods and banked all your vaping on a defective unit that was shorting out of the box? Just call one if the people you gave a mod to...
You might consider grabbing a few njoys or something till the REO gets in. If the REOs been sent already it shouldn't be too long till you're enjoying bottom fed goodness.
If it continues to short then look in the chamber, make sure the positive pin's gasket is in place. You may have pressed it in by over tightening. That's one thing I avoid with all my mods. I try to tighten just enough to preserve the threads...
I was looking at the gasket, that is the only thing I can figure could be the problem, I managed to get the centre pin out and look at the gasket, it seems to be looking good but maybe when it gets compressed down by tightening the atty somehow its causing the short. that's the only thing left that could be causing the problem. maybe the 510 connector is a little off causing too much pressure on the center pin before the atty will bottom out. I put the atty in snug till it bottoms out but I don't force it tight just turn till I feel it go snug, most of the time I just twist the drip tip to tighten
What size battery are you using in your device? Did you send pics with your emails to Vapage? It looks, (to me), the battery may be a little too long for your XL. Did the unit activate in your pocket at some point? I use a Kick in mine and at one point the Kick moved a certain way when it was in my pocket, activated and almost shorted out. The only thing that happened was it got hot enough that the button came loose and I had to glue it back onto the post it sits on. I think I was very fortunate at the time. Both, the XL and the Kick are fine and in great working order.
As others have pointed out, the unit has a 6 mo warranty and the vendor should replace the unit for you. I know several that have had their units replaced past the warranty for free as well. Only had to pay shipping back to Vapage.
Sorry to hear you're having this problem VapesAlot! I also think something's wrong in the 510 connector. When I screw in a cart or atty it does not bottom out. It's snug enough on the O-ring that I can't feel that. I certainly can't turn the atty with a drip tip. I never screw that in much past just making contact with the center pin. IMO it could very well be that you are pushing the center pin too far as Eddie suggested.
Not much help I know, but I don't have much experience with these yet. In any case, I would not continue using the PV until you figure out a way to stop it from shorting. That could get nasty!
Well at least you found what the problem was. But I'd still contact Vapage, let them know about all your issues and see if they will repair or replace the main body.good news guys, I found an old 808 to 510 connector that was stuffed away. took it apart and it had the same gasket. I compared the two and the one on the vmod had a ring missing off the gasket. I installed the new gasket and no shorts. I guess what was happening was where the ring was missing off the gasket it was allowing the center pin to be pressed down too far causing it to short. it seems like the atty dosnt turn so far now before it gets tight.
