Although I vaped on a Volcano Magma when I started, and I found that when I blocked the airholes on the magma (similar to covering the airholes in an analog), the atty burned hotter, but the TH and vapor were excellent!! I totally enjoyed it, but started vaping more and more and became disillusioned with little time the batteries were lasting me. I basically outgrew it, which I've read happens to some. The inferno was not yet available (in stock for longer than 5 minutes) so moved off of it to my current PV a vGo. Similar to an volcano, but a bigger battery and cone to control airflow. For me, this is a good step!!! The vapor clouds are great, and throat hit is much better than my magma ever was. That said, I still use my magma as my backup when my vGo is charging.
That said - I also have used both blu and Volcano products. For most of the products (being battery and carts), I found no real difference. The PCC that I got from Volcano is vastly superior in the amount of charge it holds, and the rapidity with which it charges. The biggest difference in my mind? The atty's; hands down for Volcano! Both of my original attys are holding strong, and I popped my blu on my vGo (same voltage, bigger mah). I clean them about once a week or so when I need to (you can feel the difference), and I still use them as my go to's.
At this site, you'll find a great range of product endorsements and suggestions, as a minority of Customers started their journey with Joe and the Volcano line. For a more Volcano tweaked expereince, go to Joe's website and check out the forums there. Being that it's their forum all the mods and tweaks relate to their products. Evil Ernie (same name there) has some excellent videos that ushered me into my Volcano experience.
Last - I can safely say from my own experience with the Magma, that when you move away from the Volcano prefilled carts and try something different (absolutely try the Blue foam mod) you will up your vapor. I have tried prefilled carts from many different vendors, and nothing against Volcano or their supplier, but I really didn't enjoy their filling - it didn't wick very well and often gave a burnt taste. Congrats on switching, and I hope you enjoy your volcano!!!
