So this is my first post and all I've got to say is that I have learned a tremendous amount towards me growing as a vaper. I've already done a large amount of research in concern towards mechs and their safety. I was looking into purchasing a new copper mod because of voltage drop and was wondering if anybody had any input with mods with patina and gloss coat affecting the drop in comparison to ones without.

Any and all input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

For voltage drop it does not matter what your mod is made of. It all comes to a battery you use and contacts of your mod (i.e. button and 510 connector).Copper, SS, aluminum, brass – it does not really matter.

not true. Does matter. Have a brass and a copper. copper hits harder. even with Patina. but patina looks nice. If you wanna stop voltage drop, clean your contacts.... with lemon juice. But I havent noticed a difference. dont gloss coat the contacts of course, youll be fine. I think the above poster meant, if your contacts are copper.... the rest of the mod doesnt matter as much.... which is a bit more true. But my copper mod, I like the patina look.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I currently have an ss/brass nemesis clone with copper contacts.

On the topic of contacts, I've always have understood that copper is the more conductive metal, but I've searched ebay and seen mods that talk about "upgraded silver/gold contacts". Trying to remember many years ago back to high school chemistry, I vaguely recall other metals that are supposed to be more conductive. Do you guys have any order or rating from least to highest for the particular metals? At the same time, can I get replacement contacts (possibly universal sort of like a 510 connection?)

Not true, one hits harder because it's cleaner or built better.
The only part that does matter are the contacts, but for the body of the mod, voltage drop difference between metals is negligible.
Voltage drop difference with or without patina is negligible.

To be completely honest with you, you probably won't notice the voltage drop. While yes, a copper mod does have less VD than a stainless one, the contacts are the most important part. A stainless mod with copper contacts vs a copper mod with copper contacts won't have a huge difference. There will be one, but it won't be huge. On top of which, you probably won't notice it when you're vaping anyway. People get too hung up. The main reason I love copper is the looks.

Do note, copper is soft as all hell. Your threads can get jammed so much easier using a copper mod. Also it dings much easier than stainless or even brass. Lots to consider when getting a mod :) Best of luck!
