hoping someone can give me some basics about voltage indicators

i am using the madvapes voltage indicator in my next mod

nothing fancy, just batts, switch and carto connector

it will be used primarily to let me know how long i have left on my batts

questions are...

1-do i wire it in directly below carto connector ?
(i know far left pin is neg and pin beside it is pos)

2-will this show batt voltage when switch is depressed ?

3-is the only way to get loaded voltage by reading between carto connector and carto ?
(this isnt really necessary but would like to have both if possible...or am i asking for cake and
eat it too, lol)

4-if readings have to be taken in 2 different locations, is there an adapter that will allow you to do
this in one location with one indicator?
(meaning a carto connector adapter where you can just remove carto for no-load and screw
carto back in for load, this even sounds crazy to me just typing it, lol)

5-even if there was such an animal, would this affect the actual readings ?

wow, i have really gotta get into a basic electrician class

i really really appreciate any and all help

this is my new hobby and i love making mods but all this "lack of wiring knowledge" is really frustrating me and really slowing me down

thanks again...gervis

is it a regulated mod or a simple big bat mod...if a simple big batt mod just tie the meter in at the connection to atty connector...

if it is a regulated mod add a second toggle or a normally open tactile switch inside the mod (that way its out of the way you'll appreciate this later)and wire the neg to batt neg the pos to the switch and the other side of switch to the batt pos... if you need more help someone will come along and make you a diagram or wait for me to come back online I'm going to get my 2-3hrs sleep before I go krezzy...lol also notice there are multiple pins on that meter...they are same config as first 2 long pins...in pairs...those meters are actually made to test RC lipo batteries which use multiple cells so you can actually monitor battery power and regulated output at the same time in a mod with a regulator...just make sure you get the polarities and pairing right...read the bottom of the meter next to where the pins come out...Good luck

thanks madman

yes sir, i guess you could call it a simple big batt mod

it is gonna be set up with the 9v snap-on plug internally so i can just open it up and swap out batt packs by unplugging/plugging in a different batt pack

this way i can use any and all types of batts that i have on hand at any given time

this is only my second mod, so i still want to stay kind of basic with the circuitry

i was thinking about this earlier today, if i tie it into atty conn - pos and neg wires, wouldnt that be basically the same as tying it in between atty conn and atty ?
i guess what i am trying to ask is...would indicator show different readings with atty screwed on and atty removed ?

i am probably making this a lot more difficult that it actually is, sorry, i tend to do that

btw, yes, the indicator has 7 different pins, havent a clue what the other 5 are for
it didnt come with any diagrams or installation instructions, just by itself in a little ziploc

was gonna post on madvapes help forum, but it doesnt look like theres a lot of activity there

thanks for your help and any "simple diagrams" would probably be helpful too, if not too much trouble

hope you enjoy your rest, on a side note...i have noticed that my sleep per day has gone from 6-7hrs to 4-5hrs
is that a modder side effect ?
be honest, i have the "sickness" dont i ? lol

have a goodun,
gervis

Just a guess, but these are for lipo-packs so a common ground and up to 6 positives?

asdaq is correct. 1 common and 6 positives. Common is Pin 1. Depending on the meter model, pin 1 is either the first pin on your left or first on your right. I have 2 types.

Yes it would. The closer to your atty you tie into, the more accurate the loaded volts will be.

additionally GERGOZ yea you might have modders sickness or as Gummybear has coined it ModuMust...You must feed it regularly or it may spread to others or is it the other way around...
