Hi there, I just got my Provari recently and was wondering what voltage would be best suited for my Penelope (1.3 ohms). I realize that it is preference, but I am still getting used to the juice control on the penelope, and my ohms are 1.3, so would it be risking burning the wick to crank it to around 4.5? Thanks!

Ok...someone with a deeper understanding of how dual coils behave with respect to Ohm's Law will have to sanity check me on this, but I believe you're right about the Provari not wanting to go above 3.4 volts with a 1.0 ohm dual coil. Here's why:

A dual coil reading 1.0 ohms is actually 2 coils with an average resistance of 2.0 ohms each. That means each coil is generating about 5.8 watts (3.4^2/2.0). Each is also drawing 1.7 amps, for a total amperage draw of 3.4 amps. Trying to turn the Provari up any higher will put you at the 3.5 amp limit. Some people incorrectly would state this as "vaping at 12 watts", but you're not. You're vaping two coils at a bit under 6 watts, which is not the same thing. This probably explains at least some of the people who claim to "love vaping at 14-15 watts".

I'd welcome the input of some of the scientists in the crowd if I'm off base on this. I am most decidedly not an electrical engineer, and I know we have some around. :)
