Voltage Question.

So I had a Vision Spinner for 3 weeks. On almost everything, I vaped at 4.3v and I loved it. Great flavor, great vapor. Sometimes I would have to lower it to 4.1-4.2 for some juices that burned easily, but for the most part 4.3 worked beautifully.

I received my Vamo v5 7 days ago. I absolutely LOVE this device. I'm confused though because I have to vape at 4v and lower. When I go to 4.3, even using the same coils, same tanks, and same juice, I get a burnt taste immediately.

Is there a reason I can't put the Vamo as high as I did the spinner even with the same setup? Don't get me wrong, I don't HAVE to for the same flavor and vapor production, but the throat hit definitely lower with the lower voltage.

Now, when I'm running it in wattage mode, I usually have it on 8.5-9w and it's great, but I do prefer using Voltage. Here's the 2nd part where I'm confused. Using an Ohm calculator, if I am running my 2.5 ohm coils at 9 watts, I get a voltage of 4.7. How can I not get a burnt taste using 4.7v in wattage mode, but get a burnt taste when running anything higher than 4v in voltage mode? It just makes no sense lol

Can anyone provide answers for the 2 questions I have?

I do not own a Vamo but I would guess that the answer to your first question is that the Vamo is actually putting out the voltage indicated and the Spinner was not. My eGo Twists were the same way. I could go up to 4.0V on my Twist but on my ProVari it tasted like garbage. The Vamo is most likely putting out a true voltage reading versus the Spinner.

As to your second question I have no idea.

Did it read 2.5 ohms ON THE VAMO? or with another meter? Or is that what you "think" the ohms are?

That would make sense. It's very possible the spinner wasn't putting out the right voltage.

I purchased a 5 pack of 2.5 ohm coils. The 2 I'm using read 2.4 and 2.6 on the Vamo. I don't have another ohm reader, but they read the same every time I test it.

Did you ever actually measure what those spinners produced vs. they were set to, both no-load (open-circuit) and into your typical 2.5 ohm coil? My guess is they use a relatively rudimentary circuit that's poorly regulated. I don't think it's possible to answer any of your questions in a definitive manner without actually measuring what's going on between your battery/mod and your atomizer. But there's definitely a difference in vape between different power sources. Plus there's another factor you may not be considering and that's air flow. Toppers that draw air through their 510 connection will perform differently on mechanically different devices even when said devices have the same electronics in 'em. For example, I've moved the same carto-tank back and forth between two DNA 20 devices (both set to the same wattage) and one allows more airflow than the other, which produces a noticeably different vape. However, I like a smooth vape so I don't tend to run my stuff anywhere close to a "burnt" level of power.

Well, that's close enough.

The amps on 2.4 ohms at 9 watts are 1.9 ish. So that should have been in range of the spinner too.

I could see some slight variation on voltage settings on the two devices. But not that much.

I think there may be a RMS vs AVG setting on the Vamo, but I'm not sure. You could check for that. RMS is more accurate, BTW.

Still wouldn't think it'd make that much diff in the VW vs VV vs Spinner. Gonna have to let the Vamo experts chime in. Sorry. :/

No, I've never measured the output on either the Spinner or the Vamo. I'm only a month into vaping so I'm new to all of this.

There's definitely not a problem with airflow because it's impossible to flush mount anything on the Vamo with stock topper since it has the raised 510. Also, the egos I have definitely have enough airflow.

I did make sure to take the Vamo out of AVG. It's set for RMS now with the recommendation of YouTube videos I found saying it didn't come RMS-only like it was advertised as.

It's completely confusing. The only thing that makes sens is what xanderxman said about the Spinner not putting out the correct voltage.
