So mr. eric, when can we expect said redds review? eroll is just not doing it for me. Also, I saw some guy who reviews cig-alikes mentioning that some branded cartos, though they may all be made by the same manufacturer, don't always work well on other batteries, as the air channels are put in different places or in different quantities. Any thoughts on that, or is it a pile of hooey?

just to play devils advocate here:

redds key-cig
78mm auto purple maxx fusions
78mm auto maxx fusion aurora series (review to be on you tube today/tomorrow)
102mm maxx fusion manuals

All four sets are listed as 3.6V.

All four sets have been tested with the redds cartomizers which for kicks and giggles i put to a voltage meter and came up with 2.5ohms for all of them.

The winners for the best flavor, throat hit, and vapor? The Purple 78mm auto maxx fusions.

I am guessing the different 808 cartomizers out there must have different ohms that we do not know about (or no one has tested), so the redds may/ may not work better

again this is pure speculation on something i have noticed with the maxx fusions, and am in the process of ordering some official bloog carts to test this out.

Very soon. Probably by this weekend. It may have been sooner but I wanted to clear some things up with the manufacturer as to what I can and can't mention. (They'll be launching in the US at some currently unknown point and I have some not-for-Canada samples of stuff.)

On a good note though if you're interested in it, I've been given a complete kit (not including the key-cig tho) to give away in the review, so I'll have a little contest at the end. :)

Also, I saw some guy who reviews cig-alikes mentioning that some branded cartos, though they may all be made by the same manufacturer, don't always work well on other batteries, as the air channels are put in different places or in different quantities. It's concievable. The diameter and height of the center pin, and location of the air holes on both the battery and cartomizer can all play a part in whether or not a carto will work on a given battery. However most are pretty much the same. Bloog, Volt, V2, V4L, and V3 are all identical in that they are all made by the same manufacturer (Eigate). I'm not sure about the Smoov (they have that so-called "Guardian" chip that suggests they're different), and Redds are all made here in North America. (All of it -- cartos, PCC, batteries and juice, I've learned.) So the possibility exists that there may be differences. I just tried a Redds carto on a few different 808 devices though:

Kanger KR808D-1 380mAh manual: Works fine, draws the same, seems to be a warm vape yet oddly doesn't give much throat hit. Must be lower voltage.
V3 280mAh auto: Slightly tighter draw, performance same as the Redds.
V3 280mAh manual: Same draw and performance as the Redds.
V3 Phalanx 1300mAh auto: Slightly tighter draw, performance same as the Redds.
Volt 220mAh auto: Same as Redds.
Volt 320mAh manual: Same as Redds.
Bloog MaxxFusion 220mAh auto: Same as Redds.

So basically, not much difference across 7 devices and 4 brands.

Thanks for the info. Eric. Guessing 'not for Canada' means prefilled cartos. Sounds like the batteries are the same as the 3.6v regulated ones, from what you are saying. I will definitely look for your review. Shoulda waited for your eroll review but didn't. Not that the eroll is a bad device, its just missing all the things that it needs to make it useful at what its intended to be.

Not sure why, but the more new crap that comes out, the more I find myself longing for the simplicity of the cig-alike I started with (but better). I rarely buy anything before consulting your reviews, and have even gone back to re view your EV 510 tankomizer review.

So once again, thanks for all you do for our community.

Pretty much, yes. Jack @ HappyVaper will likely be getting prefilled carts and possibly bottled juice as well, just with no nicotine. For what it's worth though the juice is excellent. I was given the stuff with nic, just so I could get the "full experience" which I'm thankful for, because damn, I'd vape this stuff dry.

Also, a bit of a correction as I was just informed: The hardware on Redds is assembled in the US, but the individual components are sourced from various sources in China. Basically, the individual components are Chinese sourced, but they're all assembled and packaged in the US.

True enough. I was mainly impressed by the performance of the eRoll, given its slimmer, shorter profile than most cigarette-style PVs (it's the same length as the Redds assembled, but slightly thinner.) There's room for improvement, but it's one of the best cig-styles I've tried and because of that I can recommend it as a good starting point to new vapers without prefacing it with too many caveats. I do agree that the PCC needs to be revamped a little to add room for some extra supplies though. That's where the Redds kit offers a much better solution; 4 cartos in storage (one on the battery) is sufficient more or less for a full work day for an average vaper. I'd still like to see a simple slip-in-and-charge slot though rather than screwing it in. I know why they didn't (wear and tear) but I'm all about simplicity and convenience when considering these slims for new vapers, which is the other thing that impressed me about the eRoll.

Not sure why, but the more new crap that comes out, the more I find myself longing for the simplicity of the cig-alike I started with (but better).

I tend to vary. For simplicity I stick with my Twist -- it goes almost everywhere with me and it's my good all-rounder. For power and longevity, what mod I take depends on my mood, but I've been using my MVP a lot. (Hard to argue with the battery life of a 2600mAh device.) Can't wait for the eVic though.

I have been using the Redds occasionally though. They still don't put me "over the top" as it were -- not that I expect a slim to do so -- but I'm well beyond the point where cig-styles "do it" for me, so I'm not its target audience, and I get that. On its own merits though? It's the best of the 808s, bar none, as far as I'm concerned.

Thank you, I appreciate that. :) I'm happy to do it. I have fun with it and love helping others with it. If what I do helps people get off the plant matter and stay off, then I'm doing something right. :)
