Voopoo celebrates their 8th Anniversary with a brand-new look and design, including a renewed website and a refreshed visual identity that reflect Passion, Vitality, and Breakthrough. The signature lemon yellow has been refined into a warmer, more vibrant and energetic shade. VOOPOO has released three revitalised devices which already feature their brand-new packaging design, incorporating the new brand color scheme and their professional vision.
This time I will introduce the new VOOPOO DRAG S3, the latest addition to their DRAG Series.
The DRAG S3 features a giga 3000 mAh high-density built in battery and 60 Watts of max power in a very compact and portable chassis that is designed with a refined mix of leather and metal for a premium look and feel. The device boosts an increased 0.96-inch TFT screen and a brand new intelligent capacitive unlock sensor; a similar experience as unlocking a smartphone. This genuine pod-mod supports the well-established PnP X Pod platform that is compatible with the whole palette of PnP X coils for outstanding MTL and RDL/DTL vaping, with dedicated pods.
Design & functionality:
I received the device in Spray Black and there are a total of 7 colors available (White, Pink, Spray Black, Metal Gray, Blue, Green, Brown). I am always impressed when leather materials are combined in the design – it makes the device look elegant and feels soft and natural in your hand. Voopoo used fine genuine leather here with an embossed fancy DRAG S3 logo at the back and stitched elements all around; it feels similar like holding the leather covered steering wheel of a premium sports car, priceless!
The DRAG S3 features an advanced Capacitive Touch Activation unlocking system. This innovative technology responds exclusively to your fingers, ignoring objects like keys or fabric, preventing any unintentional firing while in your pocket. A light touch on the fire button unlocks the device, and it auto-locks immediately when released to prevent accidental activation. In addition, the device can be locked by double pressing the fire button.
The DRAG S3 features a vivid and ultra-clear 0.96-inch TFT display and shows all essential vaping information: current mode, wattage, resistance, puff counter, battery percentage and puff duration are displayed on the beautifully designed user interface. The wattage is easily readable and adjustable even without glasses. The menu can be accessed by pressing the fire button 3 times. There are 3 modes to choose from: Smart, RBA and Eco modes. Smart mode offers you automatically the best wattage and limits the maximum power that is advised for your coil, while in RBA mode you can boosts up to the maximum 60 W performance. Eco mode optimises power consumption in low voltage levels. There are three stylish themes to choose from and they all have different animations when the device is firing. This animation can be disabled in the menu. The capacitive and manual unlocking mechanism can be activated from the menu as well as the puff counter reset is found here. The wattage can be increased/decreased by the two dedicated up and down buttons found at the bottom of the screen. The counter doesn’t do round-robin, when max wattage is reached you need to dial down with the button. The device can be turned off/on with five clicks.
Battery performance:
The device has a high-capacity 3000 mAh built-in battery that supports 2A fast charging, it just takes an hour to fully complete and you can vape on it while charging. The current battery level and the remaining time are shown on the display while charging, along a stylish animation. The USB-C port is located at the front, so the device can be charged comfortably in a standing position. There is a silicone cover at the bottom of the device that prevents wear and tear on the surfaces.
Size and weight:
124.25*33*28mm (pod included). Made of zinc alloy and leather. It is much lighter and smaller than a single battery mod, hence it is more convenient to carry a high-power device with you while on the go.
Pod/cartridge:
The DRAG S3 comes with Voopoo's well-established replaceable PnP X MTL pod with a 0.6 & 0.8Ω mesh coil and the device is compatible with the whole palette of PnP X coils (0.15 - 1.0 Ω) and disposable PnP X pods with built in coils for outstanding MTL and RDL vaping. The airflow is finely adjustable, 3-3 holes are found at the top of the pod-tank at both sides that can be covered individually. The tank has a genuine 5 ml e-liquid capacity with a comfortably wide filling hole that is covered by a rubber plug. For DTL vaping the dedicated PnP X DTL pod tank is advised, which is fortunately also compatible with the DRAG S3 and can be bought separately. I would like to highlight the MTL drip tip which is made of a smooth, silicone material that feels almost skin-like in your mouth, reminiscent of a natural instinctual sensation. And the plus: the drip tip is 510 treaded - you can replace it with your own signature drip tip for making the device more personalised and unique.
I achieved best results for an authentic RDL vape with the 0.6-ohm coil at 20-22 W in Smart mode with airflow fully opened – the vapor is pleasantly warm and provides a rich, intense and flavorful experience with a satisfying throat hit. The 0.8-ohm coil is perfect for MTL vaping with airflow slightly opened and is more meant for high nicotine content.
During the two weeks testing I refilled the pod several times and it tastes and performs still as new, without any leaks or gurgles observed. Voopoo promotes a 100 ml lifetime for the PnP X coils, thus longevity is out of question from now on. I tested the 0.6-ohm coil with Full Moon’s Dark Infinity at 8 mg and the flavor profile is wonderful with this device compared to small pod systems. I identified nice complexity and layers of the various fruits used in this mix, giving me a satisfying and sensory experience and filling lung hits with every puff.
Final verdict:
The DRAG S3 is a premium high-level device with outstanding performance that already overachieves single battery mods, it is equipped with a bright and crisp-clear display with well thought user interfaces. The leather design is very elegant and dedicated MTL and DTL pods are available with a wide variety of replaceable coils, and the plus: the replaceable drip tips. I am thankful to Voopoo that I had the chance testing it before release. If no more new devices would be manufactured anymore for some reason, I would be completely satisfied with this baby beast (and the bigger X3 brother) for the remaining!
As an improvement, I just can mention that the capacitive lock only locks the fire button and not the wattage adjustment buttons; so, it can still happen that the wattage will be misadjusted in your pocket or bag. Using the manual lock (2 clicks) will lock both the fire button and the wattage adjustment fortunately.

I am thankful to Voopoo that I had the chance testing it before release. If no more new devices would be manufactured anymore for some reason, I would be completely satisfied with this baby beast (and the bigger X3 brother) for the remaining!
As an improvement, I just can mention that the capacitive lock only locks the fire button and not the wattage adjustment buttons; so, it can still happen that the wattage will be misadjusted in your pocket or bag. Using the manual lock (2 clicks) will lock both the fire button and the wattage adjustment fortunately.
