Hello internet, long time lurker first time poster. I was wondering if my sony vtc5 that I bought from ecigexpress.com was an authentic? Ive seen the photos from sun vapers, but i am still a little iffy. I am running a .4-.5 ohm coil in my magma. and i was wondering if anyone can confirm that this is an authentic battery for me? Thank you.

oh and i was wondering, do some vtc5s come with the faded/light green wrapping? thanks for the reply!

I can't comment on the faded/light green thing because I have no idea what you consider faded/light. My VTC3 and VTC4 could be considered that or not.

ecigexpress.com is a ECF forum supplier. I believe that means there are not a lot of problems with their service. That doesn't answer your question, but it's all I've got.

Also, 0.4 ohms draws 10.5 amps from a fully charged battery. As long as the battery you have is not a really bad counterfeit, it will handle that. If it is a Samsung 25R like the one counterfeit I know of, it will handle it very well.

Good luck with it.

How accurate is your ohm meter.

There are no 18650's suitable / safe for a .1 ohm coil. (one tenth of an ohm away from dead short)
4.2v / .1ohm = 42 amps & 176.4 watts.
12 amps above the maximum continuous discharge amp rating.

I actually dont know, i use a multimeter instead of an ohm meter, i was planning on building a dual parallel coil using 26 in my magma.

It is the gross resistance of the build that taxes the battery.

IF safety is a priority, there is no safe way to exceed the batteries CDR.
Smart folks leave a safety cushion/headroom of x/% of amps below the cdr.

Thank you for the quick response, so if i build around .4-.5 will this battery still be safe? Even if its an authentic or not?

Should be, could be, maybe, but,,, I'm not one of those people that's gonna take your safety into my hands and tell you "you'll be fine".

Experimenting with and modifying wire gauge, type of coil, coil position, airflow, wicking at .8 until you get excellent results learning what works best for you while you go then gradually going lower is what I consider safe.

Yep, I know I'm an old no fun fuddy duddy that is overly cautious. I can live with that and so can my hands fingers and teeth.

I don't like dipping below 0.2 by much, though do have a 0.16 ohm build on the Magma, and vapes quite well. 100 watts seems to be my upper end, then I kind of whimp out. :D Still pushing it a tad, and will use my higher amp 26650 mods for extended vaping at that low. Only prob when vaping that low, it is easy to over drain the batts, heck when voltage drops to 3 volts, still putting out 50 watts or so, Well that and pushing to the limits thing, safety and all:D

Thank you, i want to build lower ohmed coils soon, like .1 -.2 but not knowing if the battery is authentic really scares me, should i go with my efest 18650 1600mah for this build, or not do the build at all?

no single battery is safe at ohms that low..... pushing a battery that hard at .2 or less is like driving down the hiway at 70mph.... in first gear the engine will eventually blow up...

the magma is designed for flavor.... not clouds. The airflow in a Magma is insufficient for clouding, going below ehhhh .4ish is going to produce a hot vape and trash your juice.... airflow is important, you need to keep the coils cool at the low ohm ranges.
