VTR and smoke airflow controller

Would it make sense to install the smok airflow controller on the VTR soley for the purpose of protecting the threads.

That's what I use it for, plus it raises up my 35mm (standard length) cartotank to the perfect height.

Also, I filed ridges in the top part to make it spin easier.
