VTR short, wont fire

I tried this model when it came out, it was amazing....till the rotating threads were stripped....turned it in for the revised model and thought omg, perfect model....but the draw now was horrible so i go an air control to preserve threads, and control the airflow issue.....now this morning varing ohms i experienced caused the thing to short out now when i fire all i smell is electrical problems and no smoke......REALLY?

Any ideas?

What topper are you using? The topper may have had bad coils to begin with. Was there any liquid that leaked into the unit?

It also maybe defective. Check with the vendor you got it from.
