Hey all! I've introduced a close friend to the world of sub ohm vaping to get her off her Vuse. I've read that the nicotine content in Vuse is an insane 48 mg! I only had e juice in 3 mg for my sub ohm tanks for her to sample, and that's not enough for her. I told her to try a 6 with a higher PG ratio to get the harder throat hit, see how that does. I heard to go down to about 1/6 your nicotine level on average when you go to sub ohm, but I'm not sure there are many juices available in an 8 mg strength. Worked for me, went from 18 mg at 1.8 ohms to 3 mg at .3 ohms. Any thoughts? Am I steering her in the right direction? I've only been at this a couple of months, so the conversions are still a bit foggy, trial and error. And without knowing a ballpark on the resistance on a Vuse, it's even harder to make an accurate assessment. Thanks!

The 48ml/mg strength you mentioned was a shock, so much so that I thought it must be a mistake (the highest level I've ever seen for sale was 36 mg/ml), so I Googled it and there it was in black and white, on Vuse's brochure: 4.8% by weight. When I first started vaping at 24mg/ml, I didn't get headaches over it but did have an insomnia problem. Kudos to you for trying to lead your friend away from that--not only from an outrageous nic level but from anything made by Phillip Morris.

I was curious enough to try a Vuse when they first came out and--all their slick sales-speak about Smart Technology, SmartChips and monitoring the heat and power delivered to the cartridge up to 2,000 times a second notwithstanding--it was just a typically underperforming 7-11 cigalike, 48mg or not. I've got to imagine that transitioning directly from that to subohm vaping would be a bit jarring.

Probably your friend would feel more comfortable with something more cigarette-like in her hand; the smallest device that would have any kind of oomph to it would probably be an eGo Twist or the like, which--although very noticeably different than a Marlboro in her hand--would be less a shock than a 200W box mod. Try that, a good18mg tobacco or menthol liquid inside of an Aspire Mini.

Wow, 48mg? Then big tobacco has the nerve to suggest regular vaping might be unsafe. How insane!
I tried a vuse. Tossed it and thought it was totally worthless.
I got back into vaping a couple months ago, after a little after a 2 year stop.
I never heard of sub ohm, wound up starting with a sub ohm set-up. I also got juice like I used to, 18mg.
I didn't feel so good for awhile. I dropped down to 6mg now and feel fine.
If your friend is going to have a sub ohm type set up, I would recommend sticking to a 6mg juice.
I was smoking about 3-4 packs a day when I took up vaping again. I often like to chain vape, just like I chain smoked

I agree with PI here. Maybe going from the Vuse right to Sub-Ohm may be a little too drastic. I'll second the Nautilus mini with maybe an Istick power supply first. it would be an inexpensive transition set up and far less intimidating. Sub-ohming is really meant for lung hitting, how much you can lung hit a vuse I'm not sure. Setting her up with a tank that she can learn to go from MTL to full on lung hits may work better. She also may never upgrade. Many a smoker has quit and stayed quit with those systems too.

Vuse 48mg is science actually, they performed studies and it's designed to deliver a blood level nicotine concentration closer to cigarettes. The puffs are small, and if you use one cartridge a day you'll get total daily nicotine intake very much in line with surveys I've seen in the forum for both high Nic vapers and low Nic subohming. I recommend a vuse or an Njoy bold (45mg) as a backup to those just starting to vape when they have the urge to reach for a cigarette, take a few puffs of one of those instead. I sometimes use them for a quick stealth vape, small and low vapor :)

She would be best served starting out with a nautilus mini, 18 to 24 mg Nic, higher pg 70/30 to 50/50. She can try subohming but will need more Nic as you said.

I actually really liked Njoy, kings I think is the one. Unfortunately I find them unaffordable on a regular basis.
I was smoking them a year or so ago on paydays as a kind of treat. They have the closest tobacco flavor I have ever found in an e-cigarette. Unfortunately I could smoke a whole one in a bit under 4 hours. It did work good, I will give them that. I just wish I could find a regular e-juice that taste like it.

I couldn't stand the taste of the vuse when I actually managed to get a puff off the thing.
