*PHEW* That's what I would have thought, but I've never played around with one of the woodvils so I was unsure of their....um....seaworthiness (the integrity of the button)? As I didn't know what a failed "swim test" entailed, I assumed death by water. Jeez Alice! Stress test level=Glock enthusiast......and remind me never to lend you my rig XD

:laugh::lol::lol::lol::rolleyes:

They like to think they are "swimmers" but they ALL sink almost like a lead weight. The weight of battery contributes and of course the squonk hole allows water in. The Purpleheart Woody doesn't have a squonk hole so it doesn't sink quite as fast. (I'm not letting the other two Woodys get the chance to swim, if I can help it and "swimmer" Woody has retired from the swim team now that I have so many other Woods.) I do prefer the 801 atty, native connection, as the 801 atty behaves better after taking a dunk.

The only button that has screwed up was from literally soaking all the WOODs in a bowl of Howard's. It congealed and made the button stick. That's a big button on a Woodvil, which, to me, seems like it is more susceptible to liquified wax getting inside. The inside part of that button is basically hollow. The 18490 Woodvil and Mini Woodvil buttons are constructed totally different.

I did have one button melt some on my very first Grand. I opened it up and snipped the button down a bit and it worked, but not as nicely, but Robert "made" me send it back to REO Spa.

Hugs, Feisty Alice

I'm thinking, "Home stretch, home stretch, home stretch, home stretch.".........actually I'd bet 'ole redeye is thinking the same thing. I know he finds making wood mods enjoyable, but with the amount of effort he puts in to them, I'm sure he's ready for a little woodworking break. I'm sure there's nothing like a little metal mod assembly to get you back in to the wood working mood. I wonder if he's gotten an update from his machinist yet.

He did mention over in the 18490 thread that they were starting to machine the metal 18490's i believe

The metal 18490s are running at the machine shop. The vv grands I would imagine there going to get those running next week . They were suppose to start the vv grands first but there were some issues with the prints that had to be sorted.
I ordered 500 vv grands and 500 metal 18490s
Since I posted the last picks of the vv woodvils I had to install all the magnets drill the holes for the reservoirs and buttons.
In this process you always find mods that need to be adjusted could be anything doors can warp or shrink . I still have to drill one set of holes for the wires from the chip to the button and rez. I will be oiling the mods early next week . In between coating the mods I will be wiring all the vv units for installation. wire and prep all the on off switches . I still have to put the ground wire on all the brass reservoirs. Home stretch I would say the home stretch is once I start installing the buttons reservoirs vv units. By the end of next week I should be just about ready to start assembling the mods :)

He has plenty on his plate. He will make sure that all is done in time but REO quality will always come first. :)

Unsure: Great Gandhi's Toe Jam, man! After reading this, I'm not sure full plate describes rob's schedule really.

Redeye: Thank you very much for the uber detailed updates on your epic antics. This update, reads like this to me:

"I need to do x. I need to do y. And before I can do z I have to t, n, m, p, and k. BUT I can w while v is in progress, so that's all good." Where all variables = something that sounds awfully time consuming when dealing with small margins of error, not to mention stressful.

Speaking as a well meaning completionist: while y, z, t, n, m, p, k, w, and v are all very important, please take plenty of time for s (sleeping) and e (eating) and a smidjin of r (recreation). Not sure if you're like I am in this respect, but I tend to ignore my basic physiological/psychological needs when I am knee and brain deep in a project of this magnitude. Take care of yourself, bro. We're very excited to see these things go to market, but we can certainly wait a few more days in order to know everything is going well on your end. I hope I'm not teaching my grandmother to suck eggs (meaning found here for any who are unfamiliar with the idiom World Wide Words: Teaching one’s grandmother to suck eggs). I just want to show my support and I sometimes have to depend on my friends/family to tell me when I'm pushing myself too hard as I seem to be blind in regards to my limits.

I have a daily routine I start the day off answering emails pms then its off to the shop 8 to 8 then about & hour in the evening emails pms and I call it a day.I use to get stressed out and run myself ragged but I have gotten a grip on my job as a mod builder and I am happy to be doing it .You are so right there is a time when you have to say enough is enough. I have gotten to a point I no when to put the tools down and call it a day :)

Gotta fit eggrolls in there every once in a while.
I admit I have a weakness for the old heart attack rolls

And a little time to feed all those critters.
Yes the critters have to be fed 3 pm the cats gets her soft food with extra gravy of course 7 pm I put grain down for the critters and a couple loafs of wheat bread. You cant put to much bread down at once the coons will steal it all there slippery like that .
