Well I for one can't wait for this VV to show up in my mailbox. Ever since the first REOs, due to having custody of our grandkids at the time money was an issue so I struck a deal with my wife to a 2 REO limit. A wood 18650 model was ALWAYS kept and the others was Rob's newest one out. Then being the evil man he is ;) he would debut a new REO which I had to try so with a 2 limit the last one would go to a good REOnaut's home and I'd get the new one...then so on and so on. I've been with a single Woodvil for quite a long time now just waiting for this VV. Since I can only have 2 REOs my only satisfaction is making sure they are the most unique as possible and thats plan for the REO VV so Rob....bring it on!!! :)

Yep for new batts. But you can use the same attys or cartos. If your attys/cartos are lr, then you just need to use them at a cooler setting. I use my Resurrector 1.7s or my 1.8 IKV attys on my BP all the time with no problems.

+1 And a couple of sets of the batteries will do ya. Non protected batteries are safe stacked with the control chip Robert is using in the VV REO. So the needed batteries pretty cheap. The 3.7 small batteries will charge on any charger you use for your other 3.7v batteries unless the sliders don't go short enough. In that case you can use a set of battery extenders. Jen, Dell C., I have a couple, I just found in my stash, I'll loan ya. Just PM me and I'll pop them in the mail. My WF-188 goes short enough but my old WF-139 doesn't. The batteries, for stacking, for the VV REO, are shorter than a 14500.

Not all places have the battery extenders but when you order your batteries look for them. Not expensive at all. Also, you can use two 3v short batteries. I have done that in my Buzz Pro. I have several sets of unprotected 3v (not 3.7 or 3.6) that I had no use for so I'm using them in the BP, just to use them and not waste them or throw them away. (I have no idea where they came from.) I haven't noticed a huge difference between the 3.7v and 3v stacked but I'm not cranking the voltage all the way up. I don't know if it damages the 3v but if it is doing so let it be. I had no other use for them anyway. I'll be glad to send you a couple of sets of the 3v if you want. Like I said, I was going to throw them away anyway. They gave me a good part of the day of use at about 4.5 volts. (I purchased a voltage indicator, from NotCigs, when I ordered my BP. It was about $12. Not a necessary item, by any means, but a fun toy for a geekette.)

Just let me know and I'll pop the batteries and extenders, if you need those, in the mail. BTW..... if you have to open up the sliders a bit, to fit your 14500 batteries in, then most likely you won't need extenders.

Notice for all VV users.... it will become very obvious that with each use one of the stacked batteries will become much more discharged than the other. This is why it is important to switch out which goes on top (or bottom) every other use to give them even wear. Just like with automobile tires, it's good to rotate them for even wear. With stacking batteries it's supposed to be important to use matched sets of batteries. So I mark mine 1a and 1b, 2a and 2b, etc. You will notice that one of the batteries will take much longer to charge (I use the lower, slower setting, lower amps charging, on my WF-188 as slower charging is better for Lithium chemistry batteries so it takes longer to charge them, than on higher amp setting, and I have a better chance to see when one is finished and the other isn't.

Hugs, Alice

For anyone wondering, the TR-001 chargers will charge 3.6/3.7 volt batteries from RCR123a's & 16340's up to 18650's without the need for any kind of spacers. They're relatively inexpensive, but mine charges most of my batteries up to 4.23, so I keep it as a back up to my Pila. The batteries do settle down to 4.18 to 4.20 volts a few hours after charging.

Note: no selector switch on the TR-001, so 3.0/3.2 volt LiFePO4 batteries will require a different charger.

Thanks Alice! I just pulled out my "back up" charger and it is a WF-188...so I guess I'm set on the charger, no adapters needed.:)
Battery shopping now...but freebies are always appreciated! Sending pm.:D

BTW... I'm having some flu "relapse." Okay, I'm blond, sometimes a dign-bat, but the added virus, affecting my brain, makes me even more of a ding-bat than usual so......................... I keep forgetting which battery gets drained the most, top or bottom. (I have my own simple system to rotate them but won't advise on that right now. I'm so dinged out I can't explain it anyway. I'll be better able to advise, whenever my "brain flu" clears up. And yeah, that's why I've been so absent; I'm struggling to keep up with the most important jobs and chores and pretty exhausted.) Someone, who knows for sure, please chime in to advise.

Great. I haven't read your PM yet. AND Will someone in the know please advise us if we are putting ourselves in any danger using the unprotected Li-ion 3v (not IMR or LiFEP04) stacked, using Mike's chip only, the only one I will use for stacking anything other than LiFEP04, instead of 3.7-3.6v battteries? Want to make sure we aren't stressing the 3v in any way, that could pose a danger to us despite all the safety factors built into Mike's voltage regulation chip?

Thanks, Feisty Alice

{edit} Folks, if it's okay for us to use 3v batteries in our VV REO (or BP) remember you need a charger that is native 3v charger or one, like the WF-139 WF-188, that has 3v and 3.7 volt settings. Or if using LiFEP04 use a LiFEP04 specific charger. The only reason I'm using the 3v batteries, non-protected Li-ion, is because I have them. I wouldn't purchase them for use in the VV REO or BP. I'm saving my 3v LiFEP04s for use in Grand and Woodvil, for 6v vaping, as they are very safe batteries for stacking. The mAH rating on them is lower, meaning less use time, but that's all I'll use, for safety reasons, stacked, without the protection of Mike's chip.

I do not think there is any danger in stacking the protected battery's with the VV REO's using the Notcigs chip.

I will say that the IMR battery's are safer but not a big concern with this chip.

The Buzz group using the Buzz Pro has been stacking the protected battery's with no issues.

Rob said he tried to short the mod to see what it would do and the chip shuts off. Pull the battery's and it resets it self.
This is one reason he went with the Notcigs chip.

I will try to see if I can get Mike (Notcigs) to post more on the safety factors of the chip.

Mike sells the unprotected, non IMR battery, regular Li-ion non-protected, on his site, NotCigs, as the recommended battery for the Buzz Pro, his mod and his chip. It is 650 mAh Powerizer RCR123A 3.7v.

Feisty Alice

{edit} I purchased only one set of Mike's unprotected Li-ion RCR123A, similar size to the AW IMR 16340 550 mAH, 3.7v batteries I have (only one set), to compare differences in use time.

Yep same chip that is in the VV REO's So it should be good to run them. I am running a set right now to give it a shot and have been running them in my BP with no issues. In fact I get much better life out of them then the Ultrafires we use to run in the Buzz and Buzz Pro.

Of course we'll be able to use the wider batteries in the VV REO, so my future purchases for the VV REO will be 18xxx instead of 16xxx for greater use time due to greater mAH rating. VV REO takes both 16xxx and 18xxx so it's a no brainer which to get, the wider/bigger 18xxx, if you are only purchasing for a VV REO. The Buzz Pro can't use the wider 18xxx.

Next up on my battery test will be the Black AW 16340's there 750 mAh not sure if the extra 50mAh will make much difference but I got to give it a shot and I have a bunch I use to use on the original Buzz
