Hi Kazz :)
It all depends on the type of wood. Some woods are much more dense (less porous) than others and some are oilier than others. They don't take finish in the same manner so a different type of finish is used. Some finishes turn out glossy and some have a more satiny feel. Most, I would not describe as matte.

Thanks Matthew.

The reason for having the battery sets is that I have, like a lot of vaping geeks, purchased several PVs that used stacked batteries. After using them for only a few times I decided I didn't want to use them, so the batteries were hardly used. I even purchased a brand new ProVari and a brand new GGTS, kept them for several months but never even put batteries in them. I traded them away for REOs.

All of my sets of batteries had, at the most, 10 charge/use cycles on them before I stopped using them. Most don't even have that many charge/use cycles. That makes them relatively "new" as far as charge/use cycle ages go. I tested all of the 3v batteries when I took them out of storage boxes and all tested >2v. I did not want to charge/use them if they had been allowed to go below 2v and I would have chucked them (recycle). Same for the 3.7v sets. All tested >3v when I took them out of storage. As with the 3v batteries, if any of the 3.7v had tested <3 volt I would have discarded (recycle) them too.

So none of the batteries were allowed to discharged low enough, in storage, to set up a potential reverse charge event that occures when a battery becomes drastically discharged, and then is put into a set or an attempt to charge.

Alice,

I realize that many of us post info so that others can benefit and not always specifically addressed to whom replying. I do that all the time. I appreciate your knowledge and participation. I am aware of many apsects of electrical production and "storage" AND there is always a lot more to learn especially when there are so many variations of type, quality, uses, with new untested uses emerging all the time.

The Top Batt is always going to discharge more first and be the one with the lower voltage when you take them out, check this !

This is why I always switch out the position of the batteries about every hour of vape time. Since I've been doing this most sets are coming out, at cut off, pretty close in voltage. I can think of no better way to prolong the life of batteries as one is not drastically depleting one battery during a use cycle.

This is why we mark them A-1, A-2,,,,B-1,B-2 and so on, then we rotate them so its not always the same Batt on top.

Speaking to the Peanut Gallery here AND it is important information for everyone to practice. And, I have simplified the process by switching the position of batteries, about every hour, so that marking them only by set, is necessary, as each battery gets about the same use time in each position per cycle. All of my sets are marked (my preferred system) 1a/1b, 2a/2b, etc. But by changing position several times during cycle the a and b becomes less important. I will, though, continue to do the "a and b" markings mainly for re-matching sets if needed. I, also, mark purchase date on each battery

Your also going to find the Run times on the 18350 IMR's are longer when paired then the 16340 LiFePO4's .

For sure...... I'm using the 16xxx because I have several sets and the 16xxx (16mm diameter) is needed for the Buzz Pro. I purchased two sets of AW IMR 18350, a couple of months ago, "Unsure's Law," and have just ordered, and in mail, two more sets of the AW IMR 18350. I, also, have two sets of Ultra Fire Protected 18350 3.7v 1200 mAH, that had < ten use/charge cycles before being charged and stored. When I took them out of storage they, too, were >3v before charging.

Dont keep using those old Batts that are a year old,,,,, there internal resistance goes up and this makes them unsafe and no good. Most of these Batts have an internal resistance of 1 or 100 when new,,, and when they reach 3-300 or 4 or 400 then it is time to get rid of them.

It is my understanding that the major "age" factor for the cells (batteries), that we use, is counted by charge/use cycles. Admittedly there is some chemical reaction, self discharge, when the batteries are in storage, but that is different from many charge/use cycles. I'm not saying that a battery cannot be "old" due to time and it is true that self discharge is, in effect "use" but many lithium batteries, will last and work safely for a year with many use/charge cycles.

The BDL's in my opinion are just not a great Batt, you will see a major difference against an AW,,,,

Oh yeah, when I moved to IMRs I first purchased BDL, a bunch. After using them for only a couple of months and purchasing a few AWs, to compare, I quickly became aware of how superior the AWs are. So ordered a bunch of AW and retired the BDL.

Also for 18650's in the Grand= try the newer Panasonic CGR18650CH or the Callies Kustoms ( Same thing ) , these are some super Batts too, if you want to try something other then the AW.

Thanks for the info. I have all AW 18650 that have some use/charge cycles and time "under their belts." So I'll soon be purchasing new ones. I'll certainly check out the Panasonic and/or Callies.

Lastly,,, your going to find you get much better run times in the new VV Reo with the 18350's compared to those stacked AW LiFePO4's so unless your going out for a very long time you rarely will need back ups, at least I'm finding this.

Oh, I know this is true. But I'm an honorary Boy Scout so I'm always prepared for emergencies.

Hugs, Alice

Good to hear Alice,,,, believe me I have read the Battery university from front to back numerous times :) great stuff. I'm loving the AW 18350's in my VV Reo,,, super long run times for these Batts, much longer then I ever ever expected them to run too. I'm really in love with my VV Woodvile out of all the Mods I have and have owned these woody's are my ultimate favorite of all mods for sure, especially the VV it runs like a Solid Champion of Champions, just feeds perfectly every time and fires every time ya push the button, and the feel of this Woodvil in the hand is second to none, same vape after vape after Vape every time too which is very impressive.

When DH was using the first REO he used, it was the old Purpleheart Woody, with plunger. He didn't carry the Woody in his shirt pocket, though. He really prefers the plunger but it gets hung on his shirt pocket and all the other stuff he keeps in his two shirt pockets; reading glasses and phone in one pocket, pen light, rubber tipped stylus for phone, stimidents, chapstick, pen, and REO in the other pocket. I just asked him and this is all correct. So, with that load, the squonk hole works best for him despite his preference for the plunger.

It could very well be my imagination but the WOOD REOs feel like therapy devices, especially in my "bad" hand.

I have a 2nd Run Wood REO that has the plunger. It is on my desk. I use it all the time. I have a Woodvil with a plank door. That is used all the time too. Don't mind a bit pushing the door up to squonk. My new Redwood Burl Mini has a plank door also. I think that without a hole the front of the REO can show off a lot more beautiful wood! If I had a custom built it would be with a plank door. My other Woodvil with a plunger when used that plunger is out. Just slide the door up on it too.

The squonk hole is nice. Very easy to use and a super way to squonk. I just happen to not mind a little different REO!

I take the plungers off and slide the doors open. I don't prefer the plunger and I really don't know why. Actually I haven't thought about it. I've thought, a few times, about getting a little do-dad to put in the plunger hole but haven't done so yet. I kind of wish I had thought about asking Robert to not put squonk holes in the two 801s but then again, I didn't want to complicate things by asking for special order during this and other huge productions.

My pottery is all hand made, Mary Alice Hadley, Louisville KY. I've been collecting it since my teen years when my mother started using it. (We went to the factory and purchased 2nds - they have 3rds and 4ths, too.) I've ordered, in the past, pieces that do not have the center design, but only the ring around the edge. Even though less has to be done to the pieces, by not painting the center design, it does slow production line, and actually cost more than the same piece customized with a name or date added to it.

They no longer make the Pink Pear and Grape. I've been picking up a piece here and there but for the past year I haven't been able to find any at replacements companies or on eBay. DH just dropped a salad plate putting me down to only seven. I have extra green Pear and Grape salad plates but it's just not the same. I gave all of my first collection, mixed Blue Country, Bouquet, and Pear and Grape to DD and then my second collection, Green Pear and Grape, to DD. I've been collecting the Yellow Gourmet, which is no longer made, for about five years.

I'm going to have to do fill-in pieces of both the Pink and the Yellow with plain, totally unadorned, special order. Those pieces will cost more than the decorated ones but the plain will go with either pattern, thank doGness.

Point is even leaving something off or out slows down production.

Hugs, Alice

{edit] I'm OCD only about a few things and have to know count and location at all times. They are Bubs, M.A. Hadley pottery, flatware, kitchen knives, Tervis Tumblers, and REOs and their batteries.

{second edit} Forgot........... the nicer and/or special DTs, too. I misplaced my gold $2 aluminum vase shaped DT that looks good with the brass on WOOD REOs. It was $2 at FSUSA while same DT can cost up to $4 at other places. So it was not monetarily valuable by any means. It was missing for several weeks. It was quite annoying. I found it attached to a Resurector, wrapped in plastic wrap, on the little table on my sofa arm, wedged between the side and something else.

I've been using these beta 3.5Ω attys on Lenny's loaner VV and they are not available anymore so I ordered 2 SR 2.5Ω attys from Cisco. Anyone can tell me if I'll be able to run these at 5v+ on the REO VV?
I'm running my 2.5ohm HH357's between 4.8v and 6.6v on my Reo's currently with no problems a little hot on the high end but I like it

4.6V-4.7V would be my best guess on those Atty's sweet spot

I wasn't even considering buying a VV Woody but with all the factors weighing in like they'll be ready in a couple weeks, they're friggin amazing, I don't any Reo wood etc etc etc.....I think if I can seal the deal on 1 out of the 3 that I like the best I'll be getting 1 of these ALSO!!:vapor: its a tough decision since right after these comes the VV Grande (which is a definite must have for me) and then the metal 18490 (which you can put the 18350 battery and a kick for the ultimate "on the go" stealthy VW bottom feeder) So many options damn it Rob:unsure::confused:

Very probably. It's not unusual for me to move the 1.7 Resurectors and ST cartos up a little above 5v when they are getting close to needing replacement in carto tanks on the BP. Of course it all depends on your juice. 2.5-2.7 atty at 4.8v (the green NiMH batteries) has been very good for me and I would probably like the voltage even a little higher.

In my use of the BP and the Kicked Don, although I'm using only carto tanks on them (spoiled by REO feeding system) the wheel, especially on the BP, is so easy to move in very slight increments, you will be able to fine tune the VV REO to exactly your comfortable "sweet spot."

I have a lot of >2 ohm attys, Joys, Cisco, and IKV that are finally going to get used (The 5v green NiMH were a very nice vape, on Grand and Woodvils, but so much hassle to use, especially before the higher 600 mAH and the four bay charger came out. The vape time was not awful but it's going to be so nice to have so much vape time using the stacked 18350 in VV REO.) I just ordered three new i06 2.5-2.7 that are going to be perfect on VV REO, at 5v or more, I'm sure.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I don't know what page to look at for specs and I'm a little short on time right now), but I'm pretty sure the maximum wattage the chip can push is 15W....which means 2.5 will be just fine all the way up to the max V the chip will put out....In fact it should provide just about the largest possible adjustment range available with the hardware restrictions.

A lot of folks are going to say that 2.5ohm attys are going to be the way to go with these new rigs, but TBH....if you already know how hot you like your juice cooked, you can probably get away with using either LR or HR attys depending on how hot you like it. I'm planning on using the same LR attys I currently use because I don't need my vapor any cooler than the low end of the voltage adjustment will provide, and I don't need it any hotter than say, 11-12ish W.

The Buzz Pro, same chip used in VV REOs, maxes out at 15 watts. I'll be using virtually all my attys/cartos on VV REOs and I have mostly LR. I have some 510, 801 (haven't checked the 901 in eons so not sure) that go all the way up to 5 ohm (and maybe some 306 that are pretty high) but I doubt I'll be using anything higher than 3.5 ohm; just too cool for me.

I haven't tried the 1.5 attys, yet, on lowest setting of BP (I'm using carto tanks) but I imagine, for some of us, the lowest setting, even with a 1.5 ohm, may be a little cool.

We are going to have so much ability to adjust for ohm rating of attys/cartos and the particular juices we'll think we've died and gone to heaven. I'm not worried, either, that the VV will ruin the sales for the non VV REOs. There will always be a huge market for a battle tank disguised in a Porsche "cape."

Oh I definatly agree that LR coils aren't for everyone. I haven't run in to many who have vaped very long who like their vapor cool enough to want a SR or HR coil at 3.5V (at least with the vast majority of juice varieties out there), but I do know that these people exist.

And no......the "classic line" of REOs will never go out of style. In fact, after the initial rush of the "old guard" to get our hands on the VV units, I think that the "classic line" will probably out sell the VV units by a sizable measure in the not too distant future and continue to do so for quite some time. VV will be nice, but the durability of the grand I bought is what made it possible for me to quit smoking. I'm so rough on equipment that I don't plan on taking my VV unit out of the house very often. If it can be broken, I will find a way....and by the looks of things the grand will probably outlive me. Scared and battered though it may be, the functionality hasn't diminished at all.
