I agree Gil. It is a must to check out the emails you receive. Everyone should be careful! Going direct to PayPal you can find out if there is something you need to do before purchasing. It should alert you there. That is why I mentioned that in my post.

Never trust an email notification, its not reliable. Trust it when you sign into your account and see proper information from a secure website (https) ........... and just hope you didn't contract a virus and its been an elaborate redirect scheme

Yeah they can verify through phone (automated call to a land line only), photo ID (not sure how that one is accomplished but wasn't going to try it), or a snail mail letter that has a verification code on it.

Those were the only options I saw.

Agreed, there are too many scams going on. Usually I never trust any email that I receive about paypal. But when I got this one, I figured "hey I better make sure I can log in to my paypal (as I usually don't use it all that often anymore) and make sure I'm set for sale night".
Signed in and found my account being in "limited" status pending. Read the blurb they had on my account how it was audited (or something to that degree) and I need to re-verify my information. Throughout this re-verification, it has not asked for any of my bank account info.

Always good to check. Besides forwarding those suspicous emails I still always call and speak to a human being...I trust nothing when it comes to info via the web. Which is why I don't do social media...I know, Im paranoid but Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you.

I mentioned this earlier in this thread, but you might want to log in to your paypal account and fill out the form for 'bill me later'. I have no idea if REO check out is a qualifying purchase (apparently some purchases can't be made with bill me later), but it might be worth a try... ten bucks back for your first bill me later purchase and 6 months to pay. Also, the smallest amount of credit they'll give is $250, so hopefully that's enough to cover it.

Unfortunately I am a paycheck to paycheck person. Last year I made a whopping $7000.00 all year. I am part time at a grocery store lol. Hubby works full time at walmart. He pays the majority of bills, I get one of them (the smallest woohoo!) because he makes about 3 times as much as me.

I have been planning on buying one. It just happens that I had to buy a dress and all that crap for me and my oldest son for a wedding, so money is tighter than usual. I will get one though, one way or another! I want it!! Things manage to work out one way or another. Hubby offered to pay my one bill (electricity bill) but I told him I should be fine-i will get paid again next week so that will help. Granted my paychecks only run a bout 120 a week, but that will cover the bill

Cocobolo and ebony both will vary. The patterns and the color. Different types and cuts. Easy to confuse sometimes.

that bill me later is kind of cool they have a bunch of stores that give you a % cash back some places that I shop regularly like newegg and it was easy to link to my paypal it might come in handy at times. and I just confirmed that the bill me later works with the website by placing a small order for atty's 3 bucks nice price

Bah! Blasted paypal! Just got an email yesterday that my account is going through "an audit" so I have to go through the re-verification process for it... Normally not an issue.... except for the verifying my address. I only use a cell phone, don't have a land line (its just not worth it for me), so I tried to use my cell phone number.... but guess what, it can only be a land line So now I have to wait for a snail mail letter to get to my place.

I better not miss my VV Reo because of this! I so want to give Rob my money for a little piece of heaven!

Maybe you could send Rob a check or money order in advance to cover your purchase. You'd have to arrange it with Rob first though and I don't even know if he would do that but it's worth a shot.

I would drive down to him if I had to, to pay him in cash.
Once sale night is announced I will start to freak out then. For all I know I could get this "letter" in the next week or two.
