Thank you for the beautiful pictures!
They look so, ummm, unoakish. More like birch or ash.

Just like so many of the WOODs Robert uses it is difficult to impossible to capture, in pictures, what the WOODs really look like. All that I have seen are many times more beautiful than the best pictures of them. Many of the WOODs have different highlights in different lighting.

This Curly Oak is a very select piece of WOOD that Robert may not find again. We are seeing the very last of the Curly Oak Woodvils like these. They have a very nice feel in hand and are extremely tough.

My 801 Curly Oak Woodvil was one of my main "swimmers" until I got the Stabilized 18490. And it's none the worse for its activities. (He is well oiled and waxed inside on bare WOOD.) Funny that Stabilized hasn't "chosen" to jump in yet. What a sissy.

Your current avatar has you flagged as a rabble rouser. You're being oppressed.

I Love this!! Mudflap, so far this is the best day-after-trauma-night-sale comment I've read! I'm almost starting to feel normal again after this. I just sat and laughed. Think I'll work on posting a picture of my newest acquisition. I needed this. jifjifjif probably feels the need for something a bit more in the direction of a solution.

I actually love the fact that I never really chose which one I wanted and when I got in.. I just went to one of the pages and clicked on one without really looking to see what it was. They are all beautiful and I am honored to have been able to get one. I'm not really interested in the metal grands so I won't be participating in that sale (that'll leave one for someone who really does want one) but when another batch of vv woodvils come out, I'm going to do the same thing.. choose one randomly. I've always looked at the Reo's but was wanting a vv. This is my very first Reo!! I hope my batteries get here by the time I get the mod!

I ended up with the curly oak and zebra #2.. I know that there was a #1 and if anyone knows who got mine's twin I'd love to know!

I would second this about how beautiful and alive all of the woods are although Alice doesn't need me to. Her photos captured the essence as beautifully as can be captured with a mere camera. My Woodvils (Mini and 18490) look different in different types and angles of light. They are always changing.

Alice, I want to thank you for the information you posted back in I think it was Part 3 of this thread about the UV blocker you get to keep sensitive woods from changing from UV light. I have been hiding my bloodwood 18490 Woodvil body in dark corners when not in use in the house because I didn't want to take it out into direct sunlight on a regular basis. I also followed your advice about the hard wax coating to add to it to make in indestructible (as much as a wooden object can be). You have obviously researched this and I am glad to be able to benefit from your advice. Thank you.

Bloodwood/Splated Maple VV REO is so beautiful

I've been coveting Karens "Peter" ever since she got it in her hot little hands. Soon after she posted pictures I started groveling to Robert. I may not have been able to get it if I hadn't ordered an 801 connection because my chances of snagging it would have been equal, or less equal due to on/off DSL connection, sprinkled with some pluses for being patient and not messing with unnecessary refreshing during sale. It so happens that I love 801 attys so, for those of us "oddballs" (Tripp's words) who enjoy 801, we have a little bit better chance of scoring our first choice in WOOD. Several of our Woodvils are 801 connection including the old Woodys and all three 18490s.

I'm sending several good sized boards of Pink Ivory to Robert this week for future Woodvils. Besides being a very fine grained wood, and polishing up looking like glass, it is one of the red colored woods that are a bit less UV sensitive. It works easily, too, so Robert should enjoy working with it. Only downside is it is outrageously expensive and very hard to get quality pieces of good size.

I'm going to so love using BW/Spalted and will forever have warm snugly feelings for Karen and Robert every time I use it or look at it. Of course I so love using any REO but this one will go into the "Supremely Special Sentiment" group.

I didn't mean to scare Keekers and kind of sorry I told her that her loaner Mini Woodvil ........ "Mikes" Teak Mini is in that special group, too. RELAX KEEKERS PLEASE. It is a "battle tank" Woodvil!!!!!

I am going to try posting a picture from my hard drive of my vv Woodvil I got last night. It may tell you a lot about my taste in Woodvils because it was my 1st choice. It's jatoba with bocote

View attachment 96396

(I sure hope this post an image thing works.)

Well maybe you are an "odd ball," too, but I doubt. (You can be one if you want to be.:toast:) That combination, the Jatoba and Bocote is one of my favorite combinations of the two together. I have a Jatoba/Zebra Mini Woodvil that has the same look.

Like Rob said he could imagine the jokester tied up and burning

Maybe there should be a purchase limit? Just an idea. I'm sure there are people who buy more than they are willing to admit in fear of being hunted by the REOkin.

13 mods oh my god. And he is selling them for 250$ how nice of him. I bet they all sell.

Gee if you do the math...... Looks like he will get HIS VV for free.

What a scheming little Jerk. He got over 5% of ALL the mods.

My vote is for him to be banned from future sales for a period of time.
