Crap ...mine just starting firing on it's own. It's sitting on the table beside me firing on and off. I just turned the switch off.

What is the Protocol for this again? I know that there are several of us with this issue and I don't want to try to fix it myself. I also know that Rob is working on one. Do I just pack it up and send it back? Bummer ..my first Reo..

Also..I am leaving the door off in an attempt to air the smell out..can I just send the body and keep the door?

Donna I would recomend PMing Rob first... Im sure he will have no problem getting you straightened out and letting you know what steps to take.

Check your email as well I got one from him earlier regarding this situation.

It's packed up and ready to send back in the morning :( I went back and looked at the email he sent.. in it he said to send it back if it was firing on it's own. I went ahead and included the door and a copy of my purchase invoice.
Send it in I am almost positive its the push button switch .I have been running the one I have here for 2 days and its working perfectly no signs of turning on by itself . I am all most positive these are mods Wayne assembled I think he over heated the buttons when he soldered them . In his mind he was making sure the wires never came out hes johnny over kill like that . In the end its my fault I should have mentioned it to him . I forget he hasn't built as many mods as I have

First I never take any of my REOs out on errands or appts even before this sale. I always take my Woodchucks just in case. Since I just got it and didn't want to part with it this morning. I also want to thank all the well wishes I read here. So....

Just got a call from the Modesto Police Dept which the Center involoved once they viewed the camera footage. Evidently it shows a attendant talking to me (telling me no smoking/vaping indoors) and then me leaving to the restroom where a worker enters, sits next to my chair and look around then pickup my hoodie ( I forgot I even had it with me) with the REO in it. A parking lot camera shows that worker tossing my hoodie into a dumster. The worker was a member of a contracted cleaning crew and I was told the Center has fired the service. The Police retieved the REO from the ....... and if I decided to press charges then it could be held as evidence or I could just pick it up. My wife gets wiped out after dialysis so as not to leave her alone I'll wait till the morning. Since she has only 2 more weeks of treatment the Center offered to pick her up and bring her home till it ends and is profusely sorry for what has happened.

Tripp you police skillz are razor sharp my friend!
Wayne wanted me to tell you that if you press charges, he will send you a woodvil from his collection to use while you wait. Theives suck... :glare: No joke, Gil. We'll replace that mod and accessories until you get yours back. That dude needs to learn a lesson.

So this is slightly off topic, but Dave...You and I are both touchy about thieves. We lived in this little po-dunk little town out by the mountains that has more crime than necessary...and one night...about 2:30am a LEO wakes us up to let us know that some dumb punk kids shot out the rear window in our car. Of course we were hoping we'd accidentally run into the kids at some point...but as luck would have it, the next cars they had shot the windows out of were parked in front of our friendly neighborhood .... house. All the wired .... heads heard the shots, came out, and beat the hell out of the kids (the kids were all 17-18 yrs old) and then restrained them until the law arrived. Priceless. We also received restitution checks for the next couple of years.

Lets just say the kids were more than happy to see the police arrive and go in their custody. They are lucky they only got away with a severe beating....and jail. Could have been way worse.

Just a quick question I am rescueing my Reo from the post office this morning if I find it has the strong varnish smell that others have suggested I guess it would be best to hold off on the waxing so as not to trap the smell and hold off until it fades ? My batteries still havent arrived so its much easier for me to give it a coffeetossing :p for a few days anyway.

Although I dont have it just yet from what I am seeing of others am I allowed to use it or Should I put it in a glass case on the mantle as a showpeace :D

You will know when you open the package if the odor is strong. If you don't have the batteries now you could do the coffee thing, just make sure you cover the areas that would problematic.

If you can wax before using. Hope your batteries arrive soon!

I would turn the mod off when your not using it for a week to be safe . If the mod is showing no signs of it you should be all set . If you want me to change the switch I will do that for you .

You got a great guy there Lisa but of course you already knew that. Thank Wayne for me but the Satellite Healthcare Dialysis Center is filing charges for theft too after further review of older camera footage. They have had equipment loss and decided to check this cleaning crew out and found a lot of evidence on them. After breakfast I'll be hopping out to Modesto to pickup my toy. :)
