Ok, so the more i look, i'm thinking the k100 is the way to go. The kit comes with cheap batteries and charger. What kind of performance could i expect from these batteries? Enough to use and enjoy until I get better ones? $34.48 Empire KeCig K100 Mechanical Rechargeable Electronic Cigarettes Health Keeping Set - silver / USplug / AC 100~220V at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

these batteries should be okay as long as your coils have reasonable resistance. my understanding, though, is that icr's can fail catastrophically when shorted, which is why they're not recommended for rba's. the chemistry of imr's is safer in that, if they do fail, it's supposed to be more of a fizzle than a bang, so i'd definitely recommend getting some better batteries as soon as possible, especially if you're going to be rebuilding.

I would not expect very good performance from those batteries. You will want to specifically buy a high drain battery such as the Panasonic CGR18650CH, NCR18650PD, Samsung high drain or LG high drain. That charger is pretty generic too. I think the better ones from Fasttech are the nitecore ones. Yes this will pump up your bill but if you get that set and find yourself wanting high drains, waiting 2 weeks again is torture.

BTW if you are not going to be rebuilding and running subohm coils, I would say to reconsider going mech.

Ok, so one more question. Trying to save money where I can, I got 2 of these for the right price (FREE). Tenergy Li-Ion 18650 Cylindrical 3.7V 2600mAh Button Top Rechargeable Battery w/ PCB
These are protected and have a max discharge of 3.5A. Since I will not be going sub-ohm yet, and the lowest atty I have is 1.5Ω, these will be usable for now, correct? If so, I'm gonna pull the trigger and order the k100 and charger.

Personally I don't think batteries are the place to scrimp. If you are going mech you are doing it to go subohm and those batteries just won't cut it.

Yeah but seriously, ubergeek, don't stock up on those. AW's are not that expensive, $8-$12 depending on when/where you find them, very well worth the price.

No, I'm not stocking up on them. I asked my boss (the one at work, not the one at home) to order me some of the good panasonic ones. He asked what for, i told him, he chuckled and said ok. The local supply house only carries the tenergy so thats what they delivered. My ultimate goal is to keep my $50 budget with something better than the fasttech kit. So it'll be the body only, and a nitecore charger. I'll use my iclear 30s for a couple weeks until I order an RBA, wire, wick, and maybe the 30A panasonics. I just want a usable mech until I can afford the rest to go sub ohm.
